We Want You…To be a CTL Faculty Fellow

The Center for Teaching and Learning is looking for faculty members interested in serving as CTL Fellows. CTL Faculty Fellows assist the CTL Director in designing and organizing programs with the goal of enhancing teaching and learning at Augsburg. Fellows are also eligible for additional travel funds to spend on professional development. Nominations, both self and of your peers, should be sent to ctl@augsburg.edu by April 20th.

Commencement Help Needed 2017

Are you wanting to take part in Commencement as we send off our graduating seniors? Help with staffing Commencement! Annually we rely on staff, current students and alumni to assist with rehearsal as well as ushering and ticket taking at the ceremony for they strongly contribute to the success and smooth flow of the event. There is also the chance to see some of the ceremony with most ushering responsibilities.

Help is needed:
-Rehearsal: Thursday, April 27 from 4:00-6:45 p.m.
-Undergraduate Graduation: Saturday, April 29 from 8:00-11:30 a.m.
-Adult Day/Graduate Studies Graduation: Saturday, April 29 from 2:00-5:30 p.m. – extra help is really needed here!

New Youth Studies Minor

If so, you should consider becoming a Youth Studies minor. This minor is
designed to pair well with any other major including Political Science, HPE,
Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Theology and Public Leadership,
etc. There are some great classes being offered in this minor next year,

Whether your program abroad/away was 8 days or a year, or whether you’re still abroad, you went last month or two years ago, you probably had an unforgettable experience! Would you like to share your experience with other Auggies, and inspire someone else to go abroad/away?

Please take 5 minutes to share a quick reflection and photo with us to add to our 2017-18 Augsburg Study Abroad/Away brochure.

All submissions received by April 24 will also be entered into a drawing for one of three $25 Target gift cards! Each photo you share will add an additional entry into the drawing. Up to 5 entries per person.

Study Abroad/Away Is Hiring Student Workers

Study Abroad/Away is hiring.

Calling all study abroad returnees and international students. The Center for Global Education & Experience is hiring a new Peer Advisor to start this summer.

This is a key office support position supporting students who want to study abroad or study away in the US. Responsibilities in this position include: Peer Advising, library upkeep, office management, Event Promotion, Maintenance of online application system, and study abroad/away promotion through peer-to-peer outreach, class visits, tabling, and social media.

We can offer 15-35 hours per week this summer (depending on your schedule/needs) and/or starting in August. During the semesters, we offer 10 hours per week.

Einsteins is open from 7:30am-9pm, with the Late Night Menu starting at 7pm.

Nabo is open from 7:30am-8pm, with Hot Food starting at 10am

The Commons is open from 7:30am-7pm
Breakfast 7:30-9:45am
Continental Breakfast 9:45-11am
Lunch 11am-1:30pm
Light Lunch 1:30-4:30pm
Dinner 4:30-7pm

Nabo and Einsteins will be closed from Friday 4/14- Sunday 4/16.

On Friday April 14th The Commons will only be open from 11am-1pm for Brunch, and 5-7pm for Dinner. On Saturday and Sunday The Commons will have normal Brunch and Dinner hours, 11:30am-1pm, and 5-7pm.

Staff – Good Idea for Community Service Time

The Homework Help Program at Trinity Congregation here in Cedar Riverside is looking for people to work with youth on their homework any afternoon of the week that fits your schedule. The program goes from 3:30pm-6:00pm. You can go for one hour or more. This is a good way to use your community service hours.

Jila Nikpay’s Upcoming Film Screenings

Jila Nikpay’s documentary, Dreaming With Lola (2016) will be premiered at the San Francisco Green Film Festival on Sunday April 23 at the Roxie Theater, San Francisco as well as Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF) at the St. Anthony Main Theatre 2 @ 7:10 pm.

Other screenings include Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) on May 14 & 15, and Walker Art Center on August 3 rd.
