Food Service Hours

Einsteins is open from 7:30 a.m.-9 p.m., with the Late Night Menu starting at 7 p.m.

Nabo is open from 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m., with Hot Food starting at 10:30 a.m.

The Commons is open from 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
Breakfast 7:30-9:45 a.m.
Continental Breakfast 9:45-11 a.m.
Lunch 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Light Lunch 1:30-4:30 p.m.
Dinner 4:30-7 p.m.

All Food Service locations will be closing at 1:30 p.m. on Friday April 28.

The Commons will be closed during the month of May.

AugSTEM Scholarship Deadline June 15

Applications are now open for the 2017-18 AugSTEM Program.

The AugSTEM program is designed to support Augsburg juniors and seniors who wish to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF DUE-1565060), AugSTEM Scholars receive scholarships of $5,000, $7,500 and $10,000 per student per year. (Differences in award amounts correspond to levels of financial need.) Scholars also become a part of the STEM community at Augsburg with opportunities for summer research, faculty mentoring, and career development.

Eligibility:

– Enrolled full-time in a STEM major (biology, biopsychology, chemistry, computer science, environmental studies, mathematics, or physics)

– Within 5 semesters of graduating as of Fall 2017 (plan to graduate with STEM major from Augsburg by Fall 2019 or earlier).

– Major GPA of 3.0 or higher

– U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident

– Demonstrate financial need via FAFSA

Applications are due June 15, 2017.

Still Need Help For Commencement

As we gear up for the celebration and send off of our 2017 graduates for Commencement this Saturday, April 29, we are in strong need of more help at staffing the ceremonies.

Help is needed for the following:
-Adult Day/Graduate Studies Graduation: Saturday, April 29 from 2:00-5:30 p.m.
High Priority: NEED at least 5 more people, to Usher/Ticket Taker
-Undergraduate Graduation: Saturday, April 29 from 8:00-11:30 a.m.
NEED at least 4 more people to Usher/Ticket Taker

*Ushers have the opportunity to see most of the ceremony.

If you cannot assist for these times but still want to help, email Katie. There may be some additional shifts to help with including rehearsal on Thursday 4/27 and Student Line-Up Saturday morning before the 10am ceremony.

The Augsburg Central Health Commons, and other programs that serve people experiencing homelessness in Minneapolis, need to be move to double wides for renovations to begin on the new building. Physicians Neck and Back Pain Clinics Info Session on May 9

Augsburg Total Wellness is pleased to announce a May brown bag lunch and learn information session presented by the Physicians Neck & Back Clinics. Join us to learn simple and practical exercises that can be done at home or at work to improve spinal fitness.

This will be an interactive and educational seminar to help manage this common disease.

Vocation of a Lutheran College Conference: Vocation for Life

Augsburg Faculty and Staff:

You are invited to attend the twenty-third annual Vocation of a Lutheran College Conference at Augsburg College from Monday, July 17 to Wednesday, July 19. Each year, five faculty members from each of the ELCA Colleges come together to explore the distinct roles that they play in higher education. This year, our theme is “Vocation for Life.”

The conference will begin with an opening session at 5 pm followed by a dinner at 7:00 pm on July 17 and conclude by 1:00 pm on July 19.

Keeping Track of Auggies

Alek Lukanen Presents at MSI 2017 Research Exhibition

Alek Lukanen, a Mathematics and Computer Science double major, presented a poster at the annual Minnesota Supercomputing Institute (MSI) Research Exhibition on Tuesday, April 25. This exhibition highlights work done using the MSI supercomputer cluster over the previous academic year. Alek’s work is a result of his URGO project started in the summer of 2016 titled “Equilibrium Statistics of Vortex Filaments and the Pivot Algorithm”. Congratulations, Alek, on a job well done!

Full Circle: 365 Days/Plays at Penumbra

Two Augsburg theater alums (Quinci Bachman ‘15 & Stephanie Lein Walseth ’00,) one soon-to-graduate theater major (Malick Ceesay,) & Augsburg Professor Emerita Martha Johnson are all part of the upcoming Full Circle Theater Company’s production of Suzan-Lori Parks’ 365 DAYS/PLAYS: A 2017 Remix at Penumbra Theater, St. Paul, from May 26 – June 11.

Martha Johnson directed an earlier version of this production with a student cast at Augsburg in 2012. Full Circle’s version will feature 6 directors (including Stephanie Lein Walseth, Harry Waters Jr., Rick Shiomi, Lara Trujillo, James Williams, and Martha Johnson) and a cast of 10 professional actors. Well-known African dancer Patricia Brown will choreograph. Quinci Bachman will serve as co-sound designer and stage manager. Malick Ceesay will be props designer and assistant stage manager.
