Augsburg ‘University’ Starting to Appear on Campus

submitted by weisss@augsburg.edu

Things are changing around campus, Auggies. You already know that last March, members of Augsburg Corporation approved a resolution to change our name from “Augsburg College” to “Augsburg University.” But, just in case you missed it, you can read about that on the News and Media blog.

Lots has been going on since that resolution passed … meetings to discuss how the name change would be carried out, discussions about the order in which Augsburg would prioritize where and how the name would be changed, and more.

Check out all the change underway, including:
For the Department of Public Safety
In Si Melby Gymnasium
With our outdoor monument signs
On Edor Nelson Field

Then, keep your eye on the University Name Change “Updates” page for the latest information as we prepare to officially celebrate our new name on September 5.

“It Will Renew Your Faith In Theater”

submitted by johnsonm@augsburg.edu

So wrote Twin Cities blogger Matthew A. Everett after seeing Full Circle’s production of Suzan-Lori Parks’ 365 DAYS/PLAYS: A 2017 Remix at Penumbra Theater last weekend. (http://swfringegeek.blogspot.com/2017/05/review-365-days365-plays-2017-remix.html)

Three Augsburg theater alums (Stephanie Lein Walseth ’00, Quinci Bachman ’15, and Malick Ceesay ’17) and Augsburg Theater Professor Emerita Martha Johnson are all part of the Full Circle production running this and next weekend, Thursday – Sunday, through June 11. City Pages reviewer Jay Gabler writes, “‘365 Days/365 Plays’ quickly gets to the point on topics like race and power” and praises recent Augsburg grads: “. . .with 46 different scenarios to enact in rapid-fire succession, stage managers Quinci Bachman and Malick Ceesay might be the unseen VIPs of this production.”

Martha Johnson directed an earlier version of this production with a student cast at Augsburg in February 2012. Full Circle’s new version features 5 directors (Stephanie Lein Walseth, Harry Waters Jr., Rick Shiomi, Lara Trujillo, Martha Johnson) and a cast of 10 professional actors. Noted actor James A. Williams was featured opening weekend. Well-known African dancer Patricia Brown choreographs. Quinci Bachman serves as co-sound designer and stage manager. Malick Ceesay serves as props designer and assistant stage manager.

$10 Target Gift Card for Research Study Participants

submitted by widsetht@augsburg.edu

Hello Students,

My name is Tiffany Widseth and I am an Exercise Science student and an McNair researcher this summer at Augsburg. I am investigating a modified version of the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) test in Division III female college soccer players and need healthy female Augsburg College students (ages 18-24) to participate in this study as part of the control group. You may not be currently a part of an Augsburg athletic team.
This study involves a one-hour visit to Kennedy Center Physiology lab (room 309) for Functional Movement Screen testing and a video of a drop jump. Participants will receive a $10 gift card to Target.

You can reach me at: widsetht@augsburg.edu to get more details or to schedule an appointment time.

Thank you!
