Community Garden Update

submitted by greena@augsburg.edu

If you’re in or near the garden this week, you may see a big soil vacuum truck pulling out all the soil (who knew such a thing existed?!). Don’t worry, we didn’t actually plant this weekend, so they’re not getting rid of any new seedlings…. just replacing the existing soil so we can have good quality soil in place when we do actually start planting.

The garden will be green and thriving soon!

Somali K-12 Education Policy Report Launch

submitted by lensmire@augsburg.edu

The Minnesota Education Equity Partnership and the East African Student to Teacher (EAST) Program in the Education Department at Augsburg University partnered to research, write, and publish a report on Somali student achievement in Minnesota. As you may know, Somali students and families are a major constituency in some Minnesota schools and districts, and Somali is the third most spoken language in the state. We invite you, colleagues, families, and friends to our launch event where we will present an overview of the report and will have copies for you to take and share with your communities.

Thursday May 24

6:30pm-9:30pm

Hagfors Center, Augsburg University
