The Power of Religion: For Oppression and For Liberation

Thursday, December 13th 6:30-8:30

Cedar Commons (2001 Riverside Ave. S, below Trinity offices)

Join us for a meal and conversation as we engage the topic of religion as a tool for perpetuating oppression, as well as a powerful force towards liberation.

* What makes religion so susceptible to use as a tool of violence and control?

* How do organizations with power hijack or manipulate religion to carry out oppression in the name of their faith?

* Why and how does certain theology try to explain away suffering, justify oppression and quell courageous resistance?

* How, instead, can religion fuel the work of liberation?
