Sp’22 Playwriting Course in Human Rights and Social Justice

submitted by leess8@augsburg.edu

Spring 2022 has seats remaining in the online course “Topics in Playwriting: Human Rights and Social Justice (PWC 310).”

From the instructor, “Are you passionate about making change? In a climate where human rights and social justice are obscured by “fake news,” we will explore writing plays that expose truths. This class will inspire you to focus on diverse perspectives, tell a story from a unique angle, and feature communities not often heard from. You will write about not just what you know, but what you care deeply about.”

There is a short application to fill out to be enrolled in the course as seats are limited. Deadline has been extended to January 3rd, or until seats are full. Courses count as Augsburg courses and can be taken as part of an Auggie’s regular semester load.

Note About Recent log4j Vulnerability

submitted by krajewsk@augsburg.edu

Here’s an update on our response to the log4j vulnerability that has been in the news this past week. As soon as it was announced last weekend our systems team started to identify which systems may be impacted by it. On Monday once vendors began releasing fixes or patches we started applying them to any of our affected systems. Because log4j is a Java component we had a relatively low exposure because we have relatively few Java systems.

Counseling and Crisis Support During Break (and Anytime CWC is Closed)

submitted by phalp1@augsburg.edu

For many the holiday season can be one of rest and joy, while for others it can be a time of stress, sadness, and loneliness. Knowing this, and in anticipation of the long winter break during which the CWC office is closed, we wanted to remind the campus community of an important source of support available when our office is closed (for long breaks as well as simply during weekends and evenings). Any time CWC is closed, phone counseling and crisis support are available to students by calling CWC’s main line (612-330-1707) and pressing #1. We urge you to use this resource now, during the break, and any time it might be useful during the academic year. And we wish you a break that is what you need it to be.
