Mentoring Program for New (and New-ish) Faculty Launch

The Faculty Development Program at Augsburg (aka CTL) is launching a Faculty Mentoring Program for recently-hired faculty. The mentoring program will begin in January-February 2023, and all full-time, tenure track faculty members who began at Augsburg in Spring 2020 or later are welcome to register to participate in this inaugural cohort. To indicate your interest, please complete the Faculty Mentoring Program Interest Form posted below. We will use the information provided on the form to recruit experienced faculty mentors that align with your needs and priorities. To ensure a place in this program, please submit your form no later than Friday, December 23, 2022.

Faculty Mentoring Program Interest Form

Faculty: Apply for Travel Funds by January 1 for Travel March-May

If you plan to attend or present at a conference (or engage in other professional development that requires funding) March 2023 through May 2023, the deadline for requesting funds from the Faculty Development (aka CTL) budget is January 1, 2023. Because this is a holiday, please make sure your applications are in early!!

You may apply at any time before the deadline; all requests will be reviewed and a decision communicated no later than January 3, 2023. You can find the request form, as well as all deadlines and a full description of the criteria used to allocate funding this year, on the CTL Ongoing Grant Offers webpage (link below)

Is Success on Your Christmas List? Use TutorMe

Students – don’t forget about TutorMe! It is available to Augsburg students 24/7 and offers tutoring in over 300 subjects from qualified tutors. Students are able to use 3 hours a week; 3 one hour sessions or 6 thirty-minute sessions. You can access TutorMe through any of your Moodle classes. At the top left of your screen there is an orange tab to see the side panel of resources. As you scroll down, you will see the “Augsburg Tools” section and underneath is the link to TutorMe. For more information on other tutoring and academic skills options, please click “Tutoring & Academic Skills Information”.

Pillow and Blankets Needed: New International Students

We, the International Student and Scholars Services Department, are preparing to welcome 10 to 12 international students for the coming spring semester.

We are looking for pillow and blanket donations (it is hard to travel internationally with a large pillow and blankets).

Please consider donating to help support their arrival.

Any donations can be delivered and left by our office in Old Science Hall, Suite 112.

We will accept donations by December 28.

The Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage (CMAH) invites you to take this survey and share your perspective on important concerns of the African heritage community in Minnesota.

CMAH is empowered by the Minnesota Legislature to ensure that people of African heritage can fully and effectively participate in and equitably benefit from the political, social, and economic resources, policies and procedures of the State of Minnesota. This survey provides an opportunity for you to tell CMAH what issues are most urgent in your community and share your input on policy solutions to address these issues.

Soomaal House of Art 2022 Year-End Fundraiser

Soomaal House of Art cordially invites you to our 2022 year-end fundraiser and celebration on Fri, December 16, 2022, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM! A night with artists filled with laughter, art, and good food!

This one-night-only event gives you an opportunity to purchase unique artwork created by local Soomaal Artists. The fundraiser will be exhibiting a wide range of works including photographs, paintings, and prints available for purchase. You will also have a chance to connect with the Artists involved! Your support on that night will not only help our local artists further in their practice but would also provide our community with valuable art experiences.
Soomaal is an artist-led organization based in Minneapolis. An art space that is dedicated to creativity, exploration, experimentation, and community engagement. All of our exhibitions are accessible to the public, free of charge, and artists do not pay to exhibit their work at Soomaal.

Join Nexus’ North Star Black Cooperative Fellowship team to learn about Black Cooperation and Kwanzaa with Rekhet Si-Asar, Ms. Jewelean Jackson and DejaJoelle. Rekhet Si-Asar and Ms. Jewelean Jackson will lead us through storytelling and place setting for the history and practices of Kwanzaa and connections to cooperatives and collectivist practices. DejaJoelle will guide us in a practice utilizing dance and movement for collective healing.

Nexus’ North Star Black Cooperative Fellowship

Cedar Cultural Center Volunteer Orientation – December 20

Have you ever wanted to peek behind the scenes at the Cedar? Learn more about how to participate at our venue by attending our monthly Volunteer Orientation led by volunteer coordinator Jared Hemming! Beginning with our first show 30 years ago, all of the Cedar’s events have been staffed by volunteers in our program, which now includes more than 400 members. Volunteers earn credit to see future shows for free. Tasks include setting up the venue, selling tickets and concessions, and cleaning at the end of each performance. All are welcome to join our volunteer program.

AU Program Wellness Hike/Meet and Greet

Saturday, December 17th at 3:00 pm

Come celebrate the end of the semester with us! All Adult Undergraduate program students, their families, and leashed pets are invited to join us for an off-campus hike/meet & greet at Moir Park in Bloomington, MN.

We will meet by picnic shelter #1, located between both playgrounds. Free parking is available and the trail is wheelchair accessible, although winter conditions may impact accessibility. Please get in touch with the City of Bloomington about the conditions of the trail.

The weather will be chilly, so dress accordingly. We plan to hike for about 30-40 minutes, but of course, you are welcome to stay as long as you want!
