Haven’t started your FAFSA or DREAM Act for the 2024-2025 school year yet? No need to fear! Drop in Hours are here! Come by the Enrollment Center to get assistance from Financial Aid Counselors to file your 2024-2025 FAFSA the following days:

April 15th: 2PM-4PM
April 16th: 12PM-2PM
April 17th: 10AM-12PM

We will be available to answer any questions you may have and sit down with you to check off that item before heading off for the summer term.

Now is the time to nominate Auggie alumni for the various 2024 Distinguished Alumni Awards! Nominations are open for the First Decade Award, the Distinguished Alumni Award, the Spirit of Augsburg Award, and the Distinguished Service Award. Awards will be presented at Homecoming this fall. Nominations are due by the end of June.

Students – Please Take the Textbook Affordability Survey

Augsburg’s Textbook Affordability Working Group invites you to fill out our brief survey about how well you are able to afford the books and other materials required for your classes. We’ll use this information to help us understand whether the cost of course materials is a barrier for Auggies, so it’s important to hear from as many students as possible.

The survey is anonymous, although it does use your email address to make sure we only get one response per person. If you have questions about the survey or the Textbook Affordability Working Group, please contact Karen Alexander (alexank@augsburg.edu) or Sara Fillbrandt (fillbran@augsburg.edu)

Online Survey – Chance to Win $100 Gift Card

Hello Auggies! I am a graduate student seeking participants for a research study. I am exploring how one’s ability to recognize and regulate their own and others’ emotions may relate to feelings of depression and social disconnect. Participation in this study will involve completing a series of behavioral health inventories and a demographic screener that will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. These inventories will ask if you have experienced symptoms of depression or loneliness and ask how intensely you experience your everyday emotions. Following completion of these inventories, participants will complete a test online that will walk participants through a variety of different tasks, such as recognition of facial expressions and implied social meanings. This test will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. All participation in this study is done online from the comfort of your own home. Students are invited to participate in this study if you: (1) are between the ages of 18 and 31; (2) have not been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, schizophrenia, or a personality disorder; (3) have not experienced an interpersonally traumatic life event (i.e., assault by another human being); and (4) are not currently experiencing a major health concern (i.e., life threatening illness/injury or significant transplant/removal surgery).

For your time, participants will be entered into a random lottery drawing for one of three $100 Amazon gift cards!

HLC Mock Site Visit – Open Forum for Staff

On Friday, April 26th, we will be welcoming Dr. Marci Sortor, Provost, St. Olaf College to campus. Dr. Sortor has experience as an HLC peer reviewer and has graciously agreed to serve as a reviewer for our mock site visit to help us prepare for our upcoming reaffirmation of accreditation visit in October 2024. On behalf of the HLC Steering Committee, I would like to invite you to participate in the following session: Open forum for staff.

Here’s what you need to know:
WHO: All staff and faculty
WHAT: An opportunity to practice answering questions that may be posed during our visit in Fall 2024.
WHEN: Friday, April 26th from 1pm to 1:45pm
WHERE: Marshall Room
WHY: To help ensure our community is ready for our HLC site visit on October 21-22, 2024.
HOW: You can prepare by reviewing the draft assurance argument. The draft will be released on 4/17/24 to the Augsburg community.

2024 Zyzzogeton Student Research Symposium – April 16

Augsburg celebrates the creativity and scholarship of undergraduate students with its annual Zyzzogeton Student Research Symposium. The symposium falls at the end of each academic year and is a culmination of achievement featuring work across departments.

This year Zyzzogeton will feature posters from more than 50 undergraduate researchers in the science, social science and humanity disciplines.

Zyzzogeton will take place on Tuesday, April 16, 3 – 4:30pm in Hagfors Center. There will be a convocation schedule for that day and no classes scheduled during the event time, so we hope that all students, faculty and staff are able to attend!
