Navigating the Parking Rules at Augsburg

At The Augsburg University Department of Public Safety we receive emails everyday asking where to park, questions regarding permits and about received violations. In order to assist students, faculty, staff and guests in avoiding violations and fines and providing more pleasant on-campus experience for everyone, we want to remind everyone of the Parking Rules.

2026 Zyzzogeton Student Research Symposium – April 21

Augsburg celebrates the creativity and scholarship of its undergraduate students at the annual Zyzzogeton Student Research Symposium. The symposium falls at the end of each academic year and culminates achievements featuring work across departments.
This year, Zyzzogeton will feature posters from more than 60 undergraduate researchers in the science, social science, and humanities disciplines.
Zyzzogeton will take place on Tuesday, April 21, from 3 – 4:30 PM in Hagfors Center. Contrary to previously posted A-mail, classes will take place as scheduled during this time.
Those who need any disability-related accommodation to fully participate in this event are encouraged to contact University Events at events@augsburg.edu or 612-330-1104. Remember to have the name, date, and time of the event with you when contacting their office. Please allow for sufficient time to arrange the accommodation.

Visit the Writing Center for Help with Your Papers and Projects

The Augsburg University Writing Center is open and be ready to support your writing this semester! Our current hours are Sunday 5-8pm and Monday–Thursday, 2–8 p.m. Online tutoring is also available by appointment Sunday-Thursday 6-8pm. Please visit the writing center website for more information.

At the Writing Center, trained peer tutors work with writers at all levels and in all disciplines. Whether you are just beginning an assignment and need help generating ideas, in the middle of a draft and looking for feedback on structure or clarity, or polishing a final version before submitting, our tutors are here to help. They can also support you in developing stronger arguments, refining your style, citing sources, and building effective revision strategies.

You can bring in any kind of writing project—course essays, research papers, lab reports, resumes, personal statements, creative pieces, or even application materials. No matter the stage of the process or the type of writing, tutors provide constructive, supportive feedback that is focused on helping you grow as a writer.

Stop by during open hours to meet with a tutor and make the most of your writing this semester!

Call for Entries – Student Film and Screenplay Festival

Augsburg filmmakers and screenwriters: it’s time to showcase your work! Submissions are now open for our annual on-campus film festival.

Submission Deadline: April 20, 2026
Festival Date: May 1, 2026
Eligibility: Exclusive to Augsburg University students.
Categories: Animation, Documentary, Experimental, Music Video, Short Film, and Screenwriting.

Submission Rules:
– Projects must be student-led and completed within the last two academic years.
– Length: Films under 15 minutes; Screenplays limited to a 15-page sample.
– Limit: Maximum of three submissions per person.

Prizes: Faculty-judged awards including Best in Show, Best Director, and Best Screenplay, plus an Audience Choice award!

Temporary Closure of Human Resources Office

The Human Resources department will be participating in an intensive, office-wide Workday Implementation training next week. To ensure our team can fully engage in this program, our standard operations will be adjusted.

Human Resources office schedule for the week of 4/20/2026:
Monday 4/20/26 – Open for walk-ins 9am – 12pm
Tuesday 4/21/26 – Closed
Wednesday 4/22/26 – Closed
Thursday 4/23/26 – Closed
Friday 4/24/26 – Closed

We will resume normal operations on Monday 4/27/2026 9am – 4pm.

What to Expect
During this four-day period, please take note of the following changes to our service:

Office Hours: Walk-in office hours are suspended. The HR office will be closed to visitors.
Phone Calls: Our phone lines will be directed to voicemail. We will not be available for calls during this time.

Counselors Needed for Scrubs Camp – Earn $600

HealthForce Minnesota is hiring counselors to work at the Scrubs Camp being held at Augsburg from July 7 – July 10, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM daily. Counselors will be paid a $600 stipend for the four day camp. Scrubs Camp provides opportunities for high school students to explore health careers by engaging in interactive sessions led by health care professionals. Mental Health Impact of Operation Metro Surge—Participate and Invite Others

Members of the Augsburg Community,

You are invited to participate in a study focusing on the mental health impact of Operation Metro Surge, in which the Department of Homeland Security sent approximately 3000 ICE and Border Control agents to the Twin Cities beginning in December 2025 and officially lasting through mid-February of 2026.

Prof. James Vela-McConnell, in the Department of Sociology here at Augsburg, is conducting an anonymous survey that is intended to further document the impact of this event on our community and ourselves and you are invited to participate. This online survey should take approximately 30 minutes and can be completed at your convenience. At the end of the survey, you will have the opportunity to enter a raffle for one of six $50 gift cards or one of eight $25 gift. Alternatively, the raffle winners may choose to donate the value of their gift card to a local organization working to support immigrant residents of the Twin Cities metro.

Also, we are hoping to include as many residents of the Twin Cities area as possible in this research on the mental health impact of Operation Metro Surge. Seeking Asian-American College Students to Participate in a Survey about the Model Minority Myth

Hello, my name is ShaShee Yang, and I am a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student at Augsburg University. I am conducting a research study about the internalization of Model Minority Myth stereotypes and their impacts on depressive and anxiety symptoms in Asian-American college students. I would love for you to be a part of the study! The study will consist of a brief demographic survey and three standardized questionnaires asking questions about internalization of the Model Minority Myth, current depressive symptoms, and current anxiety symptoms. The entire survey should take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete. To thank you for your participation, upon completing the surveys, you will have the option to enter your information in a raffle for one of two $25 Caribou Coffee gift cards. Campus Boxes Closing Soon

As we near the end of another year please don’t forget to take care of your campus mailbox. This includes checking it for any mail, returning your lock and filing out the survey for what you would like us to do with your mail after this semester.

One weeks after the spring semester ends (on May 15, 2025) we will close all student campus boxes unless you responded to the End of Year survey. If you would like your mail forwarded or would like to keep your mailbox open for the summer, please fill out the form

Before the fall semester starts we will reassign campus boxes to all residential students. Without completing the survey, it will most likely be a different number.

We are only able to forward 1st Class USPS mail. Packages must be looked at case by case. Some USPS will allow forwarding. (Reply to the Augsburg package email and we will look at that package.) Other packages (UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.), magazines, non-profit mail and standard mail will not be forwarded. We can also only forward to USA addresses. The forwarding period for the Augsburg Mailroom is two months from when the request is submitted. Afterward any additional mail we receive will be returned to sender.

We request that you contact the people/business sending you mail and update your address with them. Augsburg is classified as a business so you will not be able to do so through the US Post Office itself. Enrolling in online/electronic bills or statements can also be a smart option, it is environmentally friendly, secure and will often save you time (and sometimes money). Asking us to forward your mail does not change your mailing address with the USPS or Augsburg University, just with the Mailroom.

West Bank Food and Culture Talk – April 17 at Nader Persian Restaurant

The West Bank Business Association is hosting a community meal series highlighting West Bank restaurants, immigrant entrepreneurship, and cultural storytelling through food. These Food and Culture Talks provide an opportunity to get to know West Bank restaurants and to support small businesses in the wake of Operation Metro Surge. Each event will feature a hosted meal and cultural storytelling by a guest speaker. Nader Persian Restaurant (414 Cedar Ave.) is hosting the next Food and Culture Talk this Friday, April 17, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Stop by and enjoy good food and conversation.

Staff: Volunteer at Commencement 2026

Staff volunteers are needed to help make the commencement ceremony on May 7 a meaningful and successful experience for our graduates and their families.
Volunteer Roles Include:
– Accessible Seating Ushers, Greeters, and Wayfinding: Manage the accessible seating table and seating areas; assist guests with finding a seating location and/or other facilities; hand out programs; provide assistance for wayfinding and/or other needs. (Training at 4:00, Shift 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.)
– Graduate Ushers/Tunnel Managers: Staff will help students find their way to the lineup tunnel and manage the line lengths to help with a seamless procession.(Training at 4:00, Shift 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.)
– Guest Ushers, Greeters, and Wayfinding: Greet family members, and guests; assist families with finding a seating location and/or other facilities; hand out programs; provide assistance for wayfinding and/or other needs.(Training at 4:00, Shift 4:30 – 7:30 p.m.)
– Namecard Tables: Staff the graduate namecard check-in tables; help students who don’t have a namecard; provide assistance for wayfinding and/or answering other questions.(Training at 4:00, Shift 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.)
– Ticket Resolution: Staff will help with resolving ticket issues for guests (Training at 4:00, Shift 4:00 – 7:30 p.m.)
