Presented by the Minnesota JCC in collaboration with the Minnesota Sinfonia, the community is invited to experience Violins of Hope, a collection of restored string instruments once played by Jewish musicians—many of whom later perished in the Holocaust. Thanks to the generosity of Diane and Paul Jacobson, on Tuesday, June 23, Augsburg University’s Music Department in the Schwartz School of the Arts will host a symposium, chamber concert, community dinner, and orchestra concert highlighting Jewish-themed music in remembrance of the millions of Jews murdered during the Holocaust. Presenters include faculty from Augsburg University, University of Minnesota, and Carleton College, and the Minnesota Sinfonia.
Event Schedule:
2:00–4:00 PM – Symposium (Sateren)
4:15–5:00 PM – Chamber Music Concert (Sateren)
5:15–6:30 PM – Cocktail Hour / Dinner (Foss)
6:45 PM – Pre-concert Lecture (Sateren)
7:30 PM – MN Sinfonia Concert (Hoversten)
All events are free and open to the public. For more information and to register, please see the link below.
