New Staff Position: Programmer Analyst – Workday

Summary of Position

The Programmer Analyst supports the Workday ecosystem at Augsburg University and is responsible for the technical health of two critical areas: Workday Platform (HCM, Finance, and Payroll) and Workday Student (Student Records and Lifecycle).

Primary Responsibilities

– Integrated Process Architecture: Design and map organizational workflows across the entire community lifecycle, ensuring accurate data flow across all modules from student registration to employee payroll.
– System Governance & Security: Maintain the platform security framework to protect sensitive FERPA-related student data and Payroll-related employee data.
– Academic & Business Logic Translation: Partner with the Registrar, HR, and Finance departments to translate policies like degree requirements or compensation structures into automated business processes.
– End-User Experience (UX) Optimization: Continuously improve digital experiences, including optimizing self-service portals for student registration and employee benefit management.
– Release & Lifecycle Management: Participate in testing and implementing semi-annual software updates and perform impact analysis for new features.
– Holistic Data Analytics: Build advanced reports and dashboards to provide leadership with a 360-degree view of student success, institutional finance, and workforce health.
– System Integration Support: Build and maintain integrations between Workday and other enterprise and third-party systems.

Additional Responsibilities

– Participate in IT department and working group meetings to stay informed about current IT systems and policies and provide feedback and guidance for the design and evolution of IT systems and policies.
– Support and participate in projects brought forward by the Enterprise Solution team.
– All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).

Work Environment and Physical Demands

– Typical work environment is an office, with visits to faculty and staff offices as needed. Sedentary work for long periods of time.
– Regular computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor use.

Back to School Workshops August 26-27: Call for Proposals Now Open

The Center for Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce that our 2026 Back-to-School Workshops will take place Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27, 9 am to 4 pm. Wednesday morning will start with all-school welcome & kickoff meetings.

We also invite proposals for professional development sessions from all interested staff and faculty. August workshop sessions typically focus on areas of teaching and learning, including but not limited to: course design and planning, community building, instructional pedagogies, assessment practices, technology enhanced learning practices, student mentoring, and/ or other topics relevant to beginning of the academic year.

Sessions may be 60 minutes or 90 minutes.
All workshops will take place in smart classrooms unless otherwise requested below.
For full consideration, please submit proposals no later than Friday, July 31, 2025, 5 pm. Presenters will be notified by August 7th.

Seeking Asian-American College Students to Participate in a Survey about the Model Minority Myth

Hello, my name is ShaShee Yang, and I am a Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student at Augsburg University. I am conducting a research study about the internalization of Model Minority Myth stereotypes and their impacts on depressive and anxiety symptoms in Asian-American college students. I would love for you to be a part of the study! The study will consist of a brief demographic survey and three standardized questionnaires asking questions about internalization of the Model Minority Myth, current depressive symptoms, and current anxiety symptoms. The entire survey should take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete. To thank you for your participation, upon completing the surveys, you will have the option to enter your information in a raffle for one of two $25 Caribou Coffee gift cards. Become a part of a cohort of students committed to creating a more just world by engaging with communities surrounding Augsburg. We are a student-centric 4-year program, focusing on developing leadership skills, gaining social impact work experience, and understanding systems through experiential learning. We work 8-10 hours/week in local placements, and reflect through weekly meetings. Students may have opportunities to participate in conferences and travel.

Requirements:
– Eligible for Work-Study
– First-Generation and/or Low-Income Student
– Have a passion for community centric work
– Have at least 2 years remaining at Augsburg University
– Commit to full program participation
Wednesday evenings availability (4:30-6:30 pm)
8-10 hours of work in a community-centered placement

SiMelby Ramp Replacement

Beginning Thursday July 16th a construction company will be removing the SiMelby ramp and retaining walls. The ramp will be replaced and new handrails installed as well. This work is expected to take a couple of weeks pending weather. During this time the first 6 parking stalls will be coned off for the construction company’s demolition dumpster and their construction materials. Steam Plant Maintenance July 12

Cordia Energy is planning steam plant maintenance this Sunday, July 12 that will require the shutdown of steam to the campus. This will affect climate, hot water, and all equipment in buildings that utilizes steam. Cordia Energy stated the steam will be down 6-8 hours during the maintenance.

Once a month this summer, meet a local elder gardener at the Augsburg Community Garden and help them with simple gardening tasks — weeding, watering, planting or looking up facts on your phone. Build skills, make connections for 2 hours once a month, for the rest of the gardening season, and get paid $50 each time.

We are looking for students between the ages of 16 and 22, who are excited to work with local elders and will enjoy doing simple gardening tasks. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please complete the entrance survey linked here.

SPAM and Phishing Alert: Fake Email about Research Internship Opportunity

Please be aware that there is an email scam about a fake opportunity for a research internship using URGO and the Director’s name. This is a SCAM! Please do not fill out anything and report it as spam and phishing. Please note that the Director of URGO would only send these opportunities from the urgo@augsburg.edu web address. The email for the Director is not even the correct Augsburg email, but a fictional gmail account. This has been reported to Augsburg administrators and we have also made an announcement on the URGO Website with a copy of the fake opportunity to warn others.

Email Security Improvement on July 7 May Affect 3rd Party Email Sending

Email phishing campaigns are never ending and as a way to improve our email security we will be implementing something called Sender Policy Framework email authentication (SPF). It’s a way to digitally sign augsburg.edu emails from trusted sources. This makes phishing campaigns inherently untrusted and will help reduce their effectiveness.

We will implement SPF on July 7, 2026.

That means, if you’re using an external system that sends mail for you using your augsburg.edu address as the “From” it may be flagged as suspicious. Depending on the system you use, IT can authenticate the system if it is a legitimate system.

We have been in contact with the departments who use major systems we’re aware of. But we may not know about all of the ones in use. Contact your LFC to get the ball rolling on verifying your external system.

For departments where we have set up a special sending address, like admissions.augsburg.edu or academicsuccess.augsburg.edu, will be unaffected.

We don’t anticipate problems but we’ll be monitoring for issues. Please contact your LFC if your department uses a cloud service that sends email and you notice delivery issues after we implement SPF.
