The Minnesota Urban Debate League (MNUDL) is a program of Augsburg University which provides academic competitive debate programming to middle and high school students in the Twin Cities Metro. We are thrilled to invite you to this in-person event at the American Swedish Institute, presented by The Minnesota Urban Debate League, a program of Augsburg University, and the Star Tribune, 2021 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Breaking News.

Join us from 5:00 PM-7:45 PM for a showcase debate, performed by our students, on the topic of NATO and the Nordic Countries.

Her Excellency Ambassador of Sweden, Karin Olofsdotter, and Torleiv Opland, Deputy Chief of Mission, Norwegian Embassy in Washington D.C., will join and speak with us virtually. They’ll be joined in person by other VIPs at our 10th Anniversary of the Mayors Challenge: The Great NATO Debate, including Governor Tim Walz & First Lady Gwen Walz (confirmed), Mayor Jacob Frey (confirmed), and Mayor Melvin W. Carter III (invited), and our emcee, MPR News Senior Reporter Nina Moini (our emcee).

We will also hear from Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor of the United States, virtually as he accepts his 2022 Champion of Change Award.
