Sabbatical Presentation: Experiences of Early-Career English Teachers

Please join Dr. Rachel Lloyd, Education Department, for a presentation of her sabbatical research project, “Experiences of Early-Career English Teachers,” Monday, October 3, from 2 to 3 pm in Lindell Library, room 301.

This qualitative study examined the narrated experiences of eight English Language Arts teachers who were in their first five years of practice in academic year 2021-22. The research is informed by prior research on teacher retention factors, and made specific inquiries into the enactment of dialogic pedagogies, and factors influencing the selection of literature within their curricula. Dr. Lloyd will present initial findings from these interviews, and facilitate a discussion of the implications of these findings for work with aspiring educators.
