Get Paid to Teach, Research, or Study Abroad After Graduation: Apply for a Fulbright

Fulbright gives you the opportunity to teach, research, or study abroad for an academic year. The process of applying is invaluable and winning the award is a life changing experience.
To be eligible and competitive you need to:
– Be a U.S. Citizen
– Hold a 3.0 or higher GPA for serving as an English Teaching Assistant
– Hold a 3.5 or higher to conduct research or attend graduate school
– Be an active member in the Augsburg community or your home community
– Have effective skills to serve as a cultural ambassador of the U.S. to your host country

If you are a junior or senior, you would start working this summer on your application for an early fall submission. If you are awarded the Fulbright you would most likely leave the following summer. We provide mentoring and feedback to help you in the application process.

Days in May Call for Proposals – Closing April 11

Please save the dates of May 14 & 15 for Augsburg’s Days in May professional development conference. This year’s program will begin with the Dr. Jennie Diaz Memorial Lecture, featuring, Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings, originator of the concept of culturally relevant pedagogy.

All faculty and staff are invited to share your expertise with our community by proposing a workshop session by April 11.

Third Way Civics Faculty Workshop Application

hird Way Civics (3WC) Faculty Development Workshop Application

This workshop features an active, high impact pedagogy for all fields, focused on the close reading of texts and data, reasoning to sound arguments, and student perspective taking. The workshop is open and appropriate for faculty from all disciplines, and does not require adding any new content to a course. It is an active pedagogical approach to teaching the content of any course. The 3CW pedagogy has been featured at conferences around the world, and is currently being used by both large and small universities across the United States.

All workshop participants will receive a $1,000 stipend for completing the workshop, and become eligible for additional $1,000 stipends if they implement the 3WC pedagogy in a future courses.

Workshop Dates: May 27 & 28, 2025, one and half day schedule. Schedule details to be communicated later.

Location: Augsburg University Campus. Specific location communicated later.

Space Limited to 24 faculty. Applications due April 30.

Grant funded by Teagle Foundation through the Minnesota Humanities Center.

Fostering Belonging: How Faculty Can Support Immigrant Students, April 7, 3:40 p.m.

Please join CTL for Fostering Belonging: How Faculty Can Support Immigrant Students, a workshop led by our immigrant students. They will share their experiences of inclusion on campus, discuss what changes could make a difference, and introduce their perspectives on classroom empowerment. The session will include a short introduction, small group engagement, and a deeper discussion, allowing attendees to ask questions and gain a fuller understanding of how to create a more supportive learning environment.

Hello, my name is Ashley Wurster and I am currently a clinical psychology doctoral student at Augsburg University. I am conducting a research study about how episode patterns in schizophrenia may affect stigmatization levels among mental health practitioners and the general public in Minnesota, and I would like to include you in my research. The study will be completed exclusively online and consist of a survey about your demographics and your experiences with and attitudes on schizophrenia/severe mental illnesses. Join us on April 16th at the Mixed Blood Theater for dinner and the opportunity to spend time with someone you don’t know (or, if you’d really rather, someone you do). 36 Questions for Civic Love is a toolkit designed to connect strangers, and strengthen relationships between neighbors, comrades, and colleagues. We’re extending this invitation to community partners in our neighborhoods as well, giving you the opportunity to connect with people at places like the Brian Coyle Community Center, Afghan Cultural Society, Cedar Cultural Center, KFAI and more.

National Library Week Is April 6-12

Greenhouse First Friday April 4

The Augsburg Biology Department’s rooftop greenhouse grows an appreciation for and deeper understanding of the plants of our planet. The greenhouse is open to the Augsburg campus community on the first Friday of every month this semester, from noon to 3pm. The Augsburg community is invited to come see what we’ve got growing on, enjoy the tropical atmosphere and marvel at hundreds of plant species from all over the world.

The next First Friday of the semester is this week, April 4, 12pm—3pm. The greenhouse is located on the 4th floor of the Hagfors Center.

Legacy Celebration Event on April 4

Each year, the Augsburg Asian Student Association, Hmong Women Together, and Pan-Asian Peer Mentoring come together for the “Legacy Celebration.” This event aims to celebrate graduating seniors, recognize student leaders, and provide an opportunity to embrace community. The celebration will take place in Hoversten Chapel on Friday, April 4th, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. This event is open to all. Please note that the dress code is formal attire.

“Our theme, Threads of Legacy, represents the deep connections that bind us through our shared histories and traditions. Like the intricate threads of a spiderweb, our legacies are woven together—linking generations, student organizations, and leaders who continue to shape and uplift our community. This banquet is a celebration of our collective excellence, the traditions we carry forward, and the lasting impact we create together.”
