Should You Switch? New GenEd Curriculum in Fall 2025

A new general education curriculum will be offered starting in fall 2025. The resources below are designed to help current undergraduate students consider whether switching their catalog year to the new degree requirements is a good option for them. Switching to the new degree requirements is optional.

Get Paid to Teach, Reseach, or Study Abroad After Graduation: Apply for a Fulbright

Fulbright gives you the opportunity to teach, research, or study abroad for an academic year. The process of applying is invaluable and winning the award is a life changing experience.
To be eligible and competitive you need to:
– Be a U.S. Citizen
– Hold a 3.0 or higher GPA for serving as an English Teaching Assistant
– Hold a 3.5 or higher to conduct research or attend graduate school
– Be an active member in the Augsburg community or your home community
– Have effective skills to serve as a cultural ambassador of the U.S. to your host country

If you are a junior or senior, you would start working this summer on your application for an early fall submission. If you are awarded the Fulbright you would most likely leave the following summer. We provide mentoring and feedback to help you in the application process.

We will be holding an information session via Zoom on April 24 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in which a current Fulbright winner in Bulgaria will talk about her experience. Mark your calendars!

Explore Christian Community and Vocation: Apply for Christensen Scholars

The Christensen Scholars Program is a small group of ten academically accomplished students who share an interest in the theological and practical exploration of Christian community and vocation. The experience promises to be intellectual, communal, theological, dialogical, challenging, and practical.
Benefits
– Develop a deeper understanding of your own vocation in a caring community.
– Create a deeper sense of belonging among your peers.
– Learn new ways to live out your faith on a daily basis within the community.

Hello, my name is Ashley Wurster and I am currently a clinical psychology doctoral student at Augsburg University. I am conducting a research study about how episode patterns in schizophrenia may affect stigmatization levels among mental health practitioners and the general public in Minnesota, and I would like to include you in my research. The study will be completed exclusively online and consist of a survey about your demographics and your experiences with and attitudes on schizophrenia/severe mental illnesses. It should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. To thank you for your participation, there will be an option at the end of the survey to have a $2 bill mailed to you. TOMORROW: Greenhouse First Friday

The Augsburg Biology Department’s rooftop greenhouse grows an appreciation for and deeper understanding of the plants of our planet. The greenhouse is open to the Augsburg campus community on the first Friday of every month this semester, from noon to 3pm. The Augsburg community is invited to come see what we’ve got growing on, enjoy the tropical atmosphere and marvel at hundreds of plant species from all over the world.

The next First Friday of the semester is this week, April 4, 12pm—3pm. The greenhouse is located on the 4th floor of the Hagfors Center.

We operate in five centers across the Twin Cities and Wisconsin, including Arden Hills, Burnsville, Minnetonka, Winona and La Crosse. Partners is an outpatient mental health clinic providing simulated environments that reflect real-life situations, enabling the children to work on their skills

Farewell for Marah Jacobson TODAY: Thursday April 3

Please join us this morning from 10:00-11:30am in Oren Gateway 100 as we bid farewell to Marah Jacobson on her last day at Augsburg. In her 7 years of service to the university, Marah has been instrumental in the success of multiple initiatives in her role as Associate Provost and Title IX officer, including the implementation of a degree audit, co-leading our HLC reaffirmation, the development of a new gen ed curriculum, and the launch of our PSEO program. The Augsburg community has benefited greatly from her leadership and commitment. Marah will begin her new role as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Bemidji State University on April 7. Come join us as we celebrate Marah and wish her well on this exciting next step of her journey.

Looking for a Roommate, $600 a Month, Close to Augsburg

I’m looking for a clean roommate to rent the spacious upstairs loft area in the two bedroom one bath house I am renting. It would be $600 a month plus utilities. The house has a decent sized kitchen, indoor laundry, a front room area, and really good street parking. I’m a guy living with my dog and am currently attending my first year at the PsyD program at Augsburg.
