Public Safety and Facilities Announcements

Gas Meter Replacement for Urness/Mortensen/Christensen Center

CenterPoint Energy is scheduled on Tuesday, July 29th at 8am to replace the service gas meter for Urness, Mortensen, and Christensen Center. The repair will take up to 8 hours. This will affect all gas service to the laundry rooms and the dining kitchen. Contact Facilities Management with any questions or concerns.

Back to School 2025: Save the Dates and Call for Proposals

The Center for Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce that our 2025 Back-to-School Workshops will take place Wednesday, August 27 and Thursday, August 28, 2025, 9 am to 4 pm. The morning of Thursday, August 28 will have a thematic focus on the integration of generative AI in higher education:

* 9 -10 am: Keynote address with Dr. John O’Brien, incoming president of the Augsburg Board of Regents, and president and CEO of EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through technology innovation.
*10:15 -11:30 am: Actionable AI Faculty workshop time
* 11:30 to 12:30 pm: Lunch

We also invite proposals for professional development sessions from all interested faculty and staff. August workshop sessions typically focus on areas of teaching and learning, including but not limited to: course design and planning, community building, instructional pedagogies, assessment practices, technology enhanced learning practices, student mentoring, and/ or other topics relevant to beginning of the academic year. Sessions may be 60 minutes or 90 minutes.

For full consideration, please submit proposals no later than Friday, August 1, 2025, 5 pm. Presenters will be notified by August 8th.

Save the Date: URGO Summer Research Presentations – July 30-31

Please join us for the URGO Summer Research Presentations on Wednesday, July 30 and Thursday, July 31, 9:00am – 3:00pm in Hagfors 150. Students have been conducting research on campus for the past 11 weeks under the mentorship of a faculty member in their field. The program includes students from a wide range of disciplines and highlights diverse research methods and topics. This event is open to the public, and we encourage staff and faculty to come support these student researchers!

A detailed presentation schedule will be posted to A-mail later in the week.

2025 McNair Summer Research Presentations – TODAY July 23

One component of the TRIO McNair Scholars Program is a 10-week summer research project. Each year, students work with a faculty mentor on a specific topic, culminating in a final paper and presentation. At the end of July, students will present their research at the 2025 National McNair Conference at UCLA. If you would like the opportunity to see these presentations at Augsburg, please join us on Wednesday, July 23, from 9:00am to 12:30pm in HC 150. This event is open to all students, faculty and staff.

Note: Individual presentations are 10-12 minutes long. There will be time at the end of each group for questions and evaluations. Please arrive at the start of each group block to minimize disruptions during the presentations.
