This weekend an email scam was sent with the subject of “INTERNSHIP PROGRAM” or “REMOTE INTERNSHIP.” The email offered a remote internship opportunity. The email was written to appear to come from a non-existent Augsburg department.
This email was an example of an employment scam, which are common. Some key red flags in the email were
– Strange From email address
– Not From an Augsburg address
– A job or internship offer that is unusually good (either pay or hours or lack of work involved)
– It was unexpected
– It referenced a department that does not exist
You can always email your LFC or the Tech Desk if you’re unsure about the validity of an email.
Often your instincts are right and things that seem too good to be true are not real.
