Dear Augsburg community,
Since Monday, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) has received two reports of motor vehicle thefts and one report of a motor vehicle tampering. As a result of these reports, the University is issuing a crime advisory to notify the community and to share important safety tips.
Reported Offense: Motor Vehicle Tampering Incident
On September 23rd at approximately 7:53 p.m., DPS was notified that a parked vehicle was broken into on Butler Place. The owner of the vehicle stated that items were stolen.
Reported Offense: Motor Vehicle Thefts
On September 24th at approximately 2:00 a.m., DPS was notified that a Motor Vehicle Theft occurred on 22nd Avenue. Campus cameras indicated that the vehicle theft occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. The owner of the vehicle later recovered their vehicle in a neighborhood close to campus.
On September 24th at approximately 4:45 p.m., DPS was notified that a Motor Vehicle Theft occurred on 23rd Avenue at some point after 11:40 a.m. The owner of the vehicle reported that the vehicle was recovered in Stillwater, MN.

There is no suspect description.
Status
DPS is currently investigating these incidents. Anyone who may have information regarding these incidents is urged to contact the Minneapolis Police Department or Augsburg DPS at 612-330-1717.

If a motor vehicle accident occurs on Minneapolis-owned streets, individuals are strongly encouraged to contact MPD at 3-1-1 to file a report.

— Lock your vehicle doors.
— Do not store valuables in your vehicle, and keep items in your vehicle out of sight.
— Call DPS or MPD if you see any suspicious activity.
