Capitol Pathways is a paid spring internship program for BIPOC college students. With the long-term goal of making Minnesota state government and policymaking more representative of our diverse communities, our program provides students leadership, legislative and career readiness training alongside an immersive internship experience with an organization working in policy during the legislative session. This is a spring internship from January – May, 2025.

My name is Evan Bloyer, and I am a graduate student in the Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology program here at Augsburg University. My clinical research project is understanding how Tinder use impacts mental health outcomes, particularly self-esteem and body esteem. In recognition of First-Generation College Celebration Day (Nov. 8), Augsburg will be hosting events that highlight the first-generation college experience during the week of November 3. These events will be geared to students, but all of the university community is welcome to attend. More information will be provided in the upcoming weeks.

In addition to this programming, we’re asking faculty and staff to complete this brief First-Generation Augsburg Community Survey. The information collected will be used to create ongoing resources and support for first-generation students here at Augsburg. Please provide as much information as you’re comfortable sharing. NOTE: This is the same survey we released previous years, so if you already submitted a response, no need to do so again!

Summary of Position

This position works Monday – Friday from 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. and has a rotating weekend shift once a month.

Responsible for the general building / equipment maintenance and repair of multiple building, multi-level campus. Operate, maintain, and repair electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. Report malfunctions and maintain accurate and timely operating logs and maintenance records for building support systems.

Primary Responsibilities

– General Repairs: Perform general facility maintenance including, but not limited to carpentry, sheet rock, wall repairs, painting, interior finishes, ceiling, wall and floor tile, carpet repairs, door repairs hardware, locks & panic bars, and related clean up.
– Electrical Repairs: Perform electrical diagnostic trouble shooting, repairs / replacement up to the point of permit requirement for lighting, wall outlets, general motor replacement, and miscellaneous electrical equipment.
– Mechanical Repairs: Perform general mechanical repairs up to the point of permit requirements for all plumbing fixtures, iron and sheet metal work, miscellaneous pipe fittings, and general mechanical equipment repairs and pump repairs.

Additional Responsibilities

– HVAC Repairs: Perform general mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on all HVAC related equipment including belt replacement, filter replacement, parts replacement, refrigerant reclamation, related water system maintenance, fitting lubrication, miscellaneous repairs, record keeping, and general equipment/equipment area cleaning.
– Miscellaneous Duties: All other miscellaneous responsibilities as assigned as it relates to general maintenance of the College campus facilities and grounds.
– All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).

Work Environment and Physical Demands

– Continuous standing, walking, lifting, bending, stretching, kneeling and squatting, and using fine motor skills.
– Exposure to temperature, noise, irritating substances, and poor ventilation at times.
– Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
