Due February 6: URGO Summer Research Phase 1 Application

URGO Summer Research & Creative Activity Program — All Disciplines Welcome!
Phase 1 applications are due Friday, February 6 at 11:59 PM. Now is the time to connect with faculty members to explore the research and creative projects happening in your department.

The URGO Summer Research & Creative Activity Program is an 11-week, on-campus experience (May 18–July 31) that supports students conducting research or creative work alongside a faculty mentor. Full-time participants (400 hours) receive a $6,000 stipend plus a housing discount, while half-time participants (200 hours) receive a $3,000 stipend and a housing discount.

URGO Summer Research & Creative Activity Assistantships
URGO also offers assistantships for students interested in working as research assistants on ongoing faculty projects. This option involves a 100-hour summer commitment and includes a $1,500 stipend. Assistantships are a great way to explore research for the first time or to contribute to a focused component of a larger project.

Submit a Nomination for SEED Coalition Civic and Community Engagement Awards

The SEED Coalition issues annual awards for community and civic engaged students, educators, and community partners. The Sabo Center is soliciting nominations for the following awards:

Student Civic Leadership Award (student): Recognizes a student or group who model civic responsibility and leadership through initiative, collaboration, and community building, integrating civic engagement into their college experience.

Civic Educator Award (staff or faculty): Recognizes a faculty or staff member who models civic responsibility by supporting students’ civic development and strengthening a culture of engagement on campus through their teaching, mentorship, or leadership.

Community Partner Award (community partner): Recognizes a community-based partner or organization that enriches both educational and community outcomes through sustained, reciprocal partnerships with a college or university.

Community Collaboration Award (student, staff, faculty, department, or community partner): Recognizes a project or initiative co-created by campus and community partners that showcases meaningful collaboration and exemplifies the campus’s civic and community engagement, contributing to both student learning and community well-being.

Individuals can self-nominate or be nominated by another person.

Nominations due February 1st, 2025.

Hi all, as you’ve heard, Stewart will be leaving Augsburg. The library staff has a memory book for folks to come and sign. Leave best wishes or remind Stewart of something fun from the past. – Supervise the AugSem Student Leaders.
– Support programming, projects and communications that enhances the first-year experience at Augsburg University.
– Recruit and hire the AugSem Student Leaders for the upcoming Fall semester.
– Organize and offer face-to-face check-ins with the AugSem Student Leader team and with individual leaders, as appropriate.
– Develop and support training for the incoming AugSem Student Leaders.
– Support other programming housed within Campus Life, including orientation programming, leadership development programming, and other events.
– Support projects that enhance student belonging and success as assigned by the Assistant Dean for Student Success and Belonging.
– Conduct other duties as assigned.

My clinical research project is understanding how Tinder use impacts mental health outcomes, particularly self-esteem and body esteem. Muslim Students: Click Here to Share About Your Experiences With Islamophobia

As-salamualaikum! My name is Sana Khan and I am currently a clinical psychology doctoral study student at Augsburg University. I am conducting a research study about how the mental health and religiosity of Muslim college students is impacted by Islamophobia and I would love to have you be a part of my study! The study will consist of an initial screener to make sure eligibility criteria is met and then scheduling an interview in which I ask you questions about your demographics and experience as a Muslim college student as related to Islam, religiosity, and Islamophobia. The interview should take approximately 25 minutes to 35 minutes to complete. To thank you for your participation, upon completion of your interview, there will be an option at the end for you to enter your information to receive a $10 Visa gift card. New Student Position: Student: Sports Medicine Assistant, Academic Year 2026-27

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide athletic taping and assist with medical treatments for athletes
  • Practice/game preparations and coverage supervised by certified athletic trainer
  • General cleaning and athletic training room maintenance & basic office administrative tasks
  • Assist with medical record keeping and computer input
  • Provide/assist with First Aid and possible CPR in an emergency situation (training provided)
  • Some travel with athletic teams may be necessary
  • The position may involve standing for long periods of time and lifting items up to 50 pounds.
  • Training will be provided.

Celebrate Stewart Van Cleve on Wednesday, January 28

After many years wrangling Augsburg’s archives and more recently, serving as Library Director, Stewart Van Cleve is moving on to a position with the state. Stewart’s last day at Augsburg will be Friday, January 30th.

To celebrate Stewart’s next chapter, please join him for a slice of pie and a mug of hot chocolate for an Open House on Wednesday, January 28 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. in the Lindell Library in the Clubhouse located on the first floor. Stories of Stewart’s Augsburg Adventures are most welcome.

Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Augsburg Athletics will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day during the women’s basketball game on February 4.

The evening will include in-game recognition of women student athletes, coaches, and staff whose leadership and contributions shape Augsburg Athletics and the student athlete experience. In the days leading up to the event, Augsburg Athletics will also highlight women across the department.

The event is free and open to the Augsburg community and the public.
