We are now taking applications for the 2026-2027 cohort of Christensen Scholars. Apply at the link below by Friday March 27, 2026.

Christensen Scholars spend a year in community exploring questions of faith, identity, and vocation through a Christian theological lens. Students should be open to engaging seriously and openly with these topics, but it is not a requirement that a student be an active member of a faith community. Applicants need only be open to sharing about and listening to a diverse set of perspectives within the Christian tradition.

BENEFITS:
• Develop a deeper understanding of your own vocation in a caring community.
• Create a deeper sense of belonging among your peers.
• Learn new ways to live out your faith on a daily basis within the community.
• Experience a remote mountain retreat center in the middle of winter.
• Receive a small scholarship and a $500.00 stipend to cover expenses.
• All-expenses-paid winter pilgrimage in mid-January.
• 4 upper division Religion credits (can be used toward your major or minor)

NOTE: RLN 100 is a prerequisite for this year-long course. We will gather every other Thursday evening (6pm-8pm), both Fall and Spring semesters. Additionally, the pilgrimage during the end of your winter break in January 2027 is mandatory. Students admitted are expected to have good attendance and participation in the sessions and on the trip in order to earn course credit.

Christensen Scholars program is co-led by Dr. Jeremy Myers (myers@ausburg.edu) from the Christensen Center for Vocation and Rev. John Schwehn (schwehn@augsburg.edu) from Campus Ministry.

New Student Position: Student: Chemistry Lab Assistant

The chemistry department is seeking candidates to hire as Student Laboratory Assistants. The Laboratory
Assistant will assist the Laboratory Manager in preparing and maintaining all equipment, reagents, and
inventory required for Chemistry Department teaching and research. The Laboratory Assistant also assists
in perpetuating a culture of organization, safety, and efficiency in the stockroom and laboratory
environments.

Key Responsibilities

– Prepare chemical solutions for instructional laboratory courses according to provided protocols
– and safety guidelines. Includes keeping meticulous notes on preparation.
– Organize and maintain chemical storage areas in compliance with OSHA safety regulations
– Manage chemical inventory logging new chemicals into inventory systems and removing
– depleted materials
– Pull and distribute chemicals from inventory for weekly laboratory experiments
– Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with stockroom organization
– Clean and maintain teaching laboratories to ensure a safe and professional learning environment
– Wash, dry, and properly store laboratory glassware
– Put away glassware at the beginning of each week and ensure labs are properly reset
– Follow all departmental and institutional safety procedures

Work-study eligible students welcome.

Compensation and Benefits

– Rate of Pay: $16.45/hour
– Minnesota Sick and Safe Time

TRIO/SSS Summer Bridge Peer Mentor Positions (3), Summer 2026

There will be 4 days of training (2 days in May & 2 Days in June) and the commitment is 4 weeks June 21 – July 16.
$16.45 per hour

Job Description
As a result of serving as a TRIO/Student Support Services Summer Bridge Peer Mentor,
students will be able to:
● Create & maintain a safe, healthy, & welcoming residential community by
coordinating move-in & move-out, creating & posting door & hall decorations,
enforcing program & University policies & regulations.
● Provide academic support through evening study group activities, course research,
learning assistance, constructive feedback, & guidance.
● Plan & facilitate study-break activities that actively engage participants.
● Foster a positive group environment for first-year students through respectful
communication, a positive attitude, confidence-building, & providing assistance as
needed.
● Collaborate and work effectively as part of a team to support a successful Summer
Bridge experience.

Qualifications
● Minimum GPA of 2.5
● Strong customer service skills
● Effective communication & team-development abilities
● Ability to maintain private & sensitive information
● Ability to work in a fast-paced & unpredictable environment
● Desire to work in a flexible, team-focused atmosphere
● Strong sense of responsibility—and fun!
● Willingness to live in a residence hall during the Summer Bridge program
(June 21–July16; room provided)
● Willingness to complete other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications
● Completion of Summer Bridge Program
● Previous residence life experience
● Current TRIO/SSS participant
● Involvement and/or leadership in Augsburg co-curricular activities

As-salamualaikum! My name is Sana Khan and I am currently a clinical psychology doctoral study student at Augsburg University. I am conducting a research study about how the mental health and religiosity of Muslim college students is impacted by Islamophobia and I would love to have you be a part of my study! The study will consist of an initial screener to make sure eligibility criteria is met and then scheduling an interview in which I ask you questions about your demographics and experience as a Muslim college student as related to Islam, religiosity, and Islamophobia. The interview should take approximately 25 minutes to 35 minutes to complete. Action Alert: Speak Up for the State Grant

Did you know that the Minnesota State Grant program supports 62% of Augsburg undergraduate students, with an average grant amount of $6,000?

A $131 million shortfall in funding for the program means that without action, many low- and middle-income students will lose their grants or see them dramatically cut starting next fall.

Lawmakers can prevent these cuts by providing additional funding for the State Grant program during the legislative session that is underway in St. Paul. Augsburg is encouraging policymakers to do just that, speaking up on this with other private nonprofit colleges. It is also critical for individual constituents—including Augsburg students, faculty, and staff—to ask for action on this issue.

If you live in Minnesota, please consider sending a note of your own to the state legislators who represent you, asking them to fully fund the State Grant program. A sample note you can edit and a simple tool for sending it is available from the Minnesota Private College Council.

Old Main Elevator Out of Order

The elevator in Old Main is currently out of order. If you have a class or other business in Old Main that you cannot access without the use of this elevator, please contact Shelly Major at majors@augsburg.edu for assistance. The University is currently working to repair the elevator as soon as possible. (Please note that the Old Main 100/101 chair lift is functioning properly.)

Kathy McGillivray, director of CLASS, Augsburg’s Disability resources office for the past 11 years, earned her B.S. in Pastoral Studies at North central University and her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. Blind since birth, Kathy has learned that whatever we are looking for in life, we often just need to feel around until we find it.
