On Monday, March 23rd from 12:00 – 1:00 in OGC 100, students interested in outdoor education, environmental justice, river studies, and political organizing can learn more about two upcoming programs on the Mississippi River. ENV 310: Outdoor Leadership, Justice, and Sustainability will be in Fall 2026. The class is offered on campus but includes a five-day trip by sailboat down the river from St. Paul to Lake Pepin in late September. Students in that class will learn about leadership, sustainability, and community building around social justice issues. And for the truly adventurous, Augsburg’s seventh River Semester which will travel the length of the Mississippi River in Fall 2027, and those interested in joining that expedition should start planning for that now. Participants take a full set of courses undertaken over the course of a 100-day journey down the length of the Mississippi River, a once-in-a-lifetime life-changing experience.
