Hagfors Center: Preparations for the Elm Wood Wall

Crews have completed installation of the window fin extensions that add accent colors to the exterior of the Hagfors Center. This week’s construction overview includes updates on the following topics:

Elm wood lobby wall
Skyway
Basement staircase
Lab flooring
Exterior seating
Cable installation
Louvers for the rooftop mechanical area

Visit the Writing Lab on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Writing assignments are due in the summer, too, and tutors in the Writing Lab can help any Augsburg student with any writing task. The Augsburg Writing Lab is now open with reduced hours during May and summer. Hours through the end of SS II are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 4 – 6:30 p.m. There is also an online option for students who can not be on campus. Please contact Kathryn Swanson, English Department, if you have any questions.

Updates: University Name Change

Information and updates about the change of Augsburg College to Augsburg University are being shared through an “Updates” page on the University Name Change area of the website.

The Updates blog will be home to information related to physical changes that are taking place over the summer months, such as to monument signs and new graphics on the gym floor; tips on updating department websites and blogs; important news about ordering materials and access to graphics; help sessions; and more.

University Name Change Information

$10 Target Gift Card for Research Study Participants

Hello Students,

My name is Tiffany Widseth and I am an Exercise Science student and an McNair researcher this summer at Augsburg. I am investigating a modified version of the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) test in Division III female college soccer players and need healthy female Augsburg College students (ages 18-24) to participate in this study as part of the control group. You may not be currently a part of an Augsburg athletic team.
This study involves a one-hour visit to Kennedy Center Physiology lab (room 309) for Functional Movement Screen testing and a video of a drop jump. Participants will receive a $10 gift card to Target.

$5 for Research Participants

You are invited to take part in a research study to investigate your ability to locate hidden objects. You were selected as a possible participant in this study as a part of the Augsburg College psychology department’s research experience program. This study is being conducted by Dr. Ben Denkinger and Samantha Kong.

All undergraduates over 18 years of age with normal or corrected-to-normal vision, as well as psychology students in PSY 105 or PSY 215, are eligible to participate in this study.

There are no anticipated risks to participation. The direct benefit of participation is the receipt of either $5. The indirect benefit to participation is learning more about the research process in psychology.

Vocation of a Lutheran College Conference: Vocation for Life

Augsburg Faculty and Staff:

You are invited to attend the twenty-third annual Vocation of a Lutheran College Conference at Augsburg College from Monday, July 17 to Wednesday, July 19. Each year, five faculty members from each of the ELCA Colleges come together to explore the distinct roles that they play in higher education. This year, our theme is “Vocation for Life.”

The conference will begin with an opening session at 5 pm followed by a dinner at 7:00 pm on July 17 and conclude by 1:00 pm on July 19.
