Writing for Social Change
Tuesday, October 24th 6-8pm

Do you ever wonder…
* What does being a writer have to do with social justice movements?
* What role can writers and artists have in the life of a community?
* How can the skills of a writer contribute to social change work?
* How do we connect our skillsets and academic interests with what’s urgent to us?

Join us for a panel discussion featuring Erin Sharkey, Farrington Llewelyn, and Vanessa Taylor who will talk about their personal and professional journeys, and about the many creative ways that they seek to live out their commitments to justice through their work as writers and artists.

This Local Leaders Strengthening Communities series is aimed at connecting young people with change-making work and pushing them to think about creative ways that their disciplines/skill sets could be applied towards justice.

Co-Sponsored by the Augsburg English Department.

Social Action w/o Religion: What do nonreligious people believe and practice?

How do people who don’t believe in a god or universal spirit, or people who don’t identify with a religious tradition, make sense of their lives and work for social justice?

Join us for a panel discussion on how humanists, atheists, agnostics, and other nonreligious people find meaning, build community, act on their values, and connect with others.

Stay tuned for panelist details!
