This summer Augsburg will again host the annual Vocation of Lutheran Higher Education Conference. Each year, members of Lutheran colleges and universities gather to explore the distinctive roles we play in higher education. The theme of the 2025 conference “Ethical Leadership in a Changing World.” The conference aligns with NECU’s mission of preparing students for lives of leadership and service through a theologically rooted understanding of vocation. Ethical leadership—grounded in Lutheran traditions of grace, justice, and community—ensures development of the character and discernment to lead in ways that promote the common good. Join us as we explore how Lutheran higher education can equip the next generation of leaders to navigate ethical challenges with integrity and faith.
Highlights include a keynote address by Dr. Walter Fluker, a renowned scholar and leader in ethics and leadership studies, who will challenge participants to consider how vocation and values-based leadership intersect in today’s complex world. His insights will provide a foundation for discussions on how NECU institutions can cultivate ethical leaders who serve with wisdom, courage, and a deep sense of purpose.
The conference begins at 5:00 pm on Monday, July 14 and ends at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 16.
The registration fee is waived for Augsburg participants and meals (lunch and dinner) are provided to Augsburg participants free of charge. The deadline for registration is Monday, June 16. If you have questions about registration, please contact Janice Dames (x1732 or dames@augsburg.edu).
