MnDOT is continuing bridge preservation and maintenance work on five bridges along I-94 in Minneapolis, affecting travel time and highway access to Augsburg through August.
There will be a full weekend closure of I-94 between 35W and Huron Blvd in mid-June (exact date TBD) to shift lanes to the opposite side of the freeway. Traffic will continue to be reduced to two lanes in both directions through the summer.
Starting in mid-June, several ramps will be closed through August:
‒ Northbound I-35W to eastbound I-94
‒ S. 6th St. to eastbound I-94
‒ Huron Blvd. to eastbound I-94
‒ Eastbound I-94 to Huron Blvd.
‒ Riverside Ave. to eastbound I-94
‒ Cedar Ave. to eastbound I-94
During this time, the detour from northbound I-35W to eastbound I-94 will be via eastbound Hwy 36 and southbound I-35E.
The Riverside bridge over I-94 is expected to reopen around May 29. However, there will be another closure later in the summer (likely mid-July to early August).

Staff Senate nominations are now open! Please nominate yourself or a colleague who you think would be a great fit! The deadline to nominate is Friday, May 30. After which a ballot will be sent out in early June.
Everyone who is nominated is asked if they would like to accept their nomination, so even if you’re unsure whether or not the person would be interested, nominating them doesn’t commit them to anything! We’ve added some info below to give you an idea about what the Staff Senate does and some of the events we did this year. If you have any questions feel free to reach by emailing Staff Senate at staffsenate@augsburg.edu.
The Augsburg University Staff Senate is a body of elected staff members who advocate on behalf of the staff, foster meaningful dialogue, and work to recognize and celebrate the impact of staff members on the University and community.
Staff Senators meet monthly to discuss events, staff/campus concerns. This year we hosted several staff wellness events and the annual staff appreciation.
You can also talk to current members which includes Emilie Lenz, Keri Clifton, Izzy Rankin, Hayley Selinski, and Elijah Owens to get more information.
Nominate a co-worker or yourself!

Our annual event, Rise & Remember Festival, exists to hold in remembrance George Floyd and those we have lost unjustly to the pervasive impacts of systemic racism. Activities focus on education, empowerment, healing, celebration, and our collective pursuit for racial justice and equity. Through Rise & Remember Festival, we will host a candlelight vigil, a Night of Honor, and the street festival that continues to highlight the role of community-rooted healing and art as activism. Our vision is that this experience inspires people to rise to the occasion to come together in community and build racial justice and equity.
