Starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 13, all I-94 entrance and exit ramps between I-35W and Huron Blvd will be closed. An hour later at 10 p.m., both directions of I-94 will be fully closed in the same area. Crews are doing a traffic shift from the eastbound lanes to the westbound lanes this weekend, so they’ll be able to continue their bridge repair work along eastbound I-94.
To avoid the closure, please follow the posted detour of I-35W to Hwy 36 to I-35E to I-94.
By 5 a.m. on Monday, June 16, I-94 will reopen and be reduced to two lanes in each direction on the west side of the interstate through mid-August.
The following ramps will remain closed through mid-August:
— Northbound I-35W to eastbound I-94
— South 6th St. to eastbound I-94
— Huron Blvd. to eastbound I-94
— Eastbound I-94 to Huron Blvd.
— Riverside Ave. to eastbound I-94
— Cedar Ave. to eastbound I-94
Please use alternate routes to bypass these ramp closures.
Additionally, Cedar Ave. will be reduced to one lane in each direction under the I-94 bridges from Monday, June 16, through early August.
The Hiawatha LRT Trail between 15th Ave. South and East Franklin Ave. will also be closed starting Monday, June 16 through mid-July.
All lanes on I-94 between I-35W and Huron Blvd. are expected to reopen to traffic for the State Fair starting in mid-August through Labor Day. Final construction activities will resume after Labor Day and last through the fall.
Plan ahead by checking 511, and give yourself additional time to reach your destination. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.

Want to gorge yourself on some serviceberries and chat about gift economies? The serviceberry trees on the boulevard along 20th Avenue *should* be ripe and ready for eating by next week! Stop by any time between Noon and 2:00 pm to chat about gift economies or just hang out and get juiced up on berries. Please feel free to invite friends and fam!
You can get a copy of Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book about serviceberries, The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World (https://birchbarkbooks.com/products/the-serviceberry) or read the essay that it is based on in Emergence Magazine, https://emergencemagazine.org/essay/the-serviceberry/.
Email or Google Chat Jenean Gilmer (gilmerje@augsburg.edu) with questions or concerns.
