Augsburg has a new campus resource designed to assist individuals with mobility challenges in the event of an emergency. With a flexible track, the Xpedition powered stair chair facilitates safe transportation of up to 500 lbs up and down stairs and across a variety of terrains.
Potential scenarios where it might be used include:
— Emergency evacuation
— Response to accident, injury, or medical emergency
— Unexpected mobility challenge (e.g., elevator outage)
Along with Emergency Medical Responder training, all DPS officers have been trained to operate the powered stair chair. To request assistance, contact DPS at 612-330-1717.
