New A-mail System Live

submitted by jendra@augsburg.edu

The new system for submitting and reading the Daily A-mail is now live! Features of the new system include:

* a simplified submission interface
* an email receipt confirming each successful submission, including the full content submitted
* the ability to edit a post after it has been submitted up until the submission deadline
* the optional daily digest sent via email will now include links to each individual post.

The deadline for submitting A-mail has also changed. The new deadline for inclusion in a day’s A-mail is 11:59 p.m. the day prior to publication, rather than 10 a.m. on the day of publication. This means an A-mail can be submitted at any time during the day (including before 10 a.m.) in order to show up in the next business day’s A-mail.

You can submit content for A-mail by clicking the “Submit A-mail” link in the left-hand navigation at inside.augsburg.edu or by clicking the blue submit button on the upper right of the A-mail webpage (amail.augsburg.edu).

Please send questions or concerns to a-mail-corrections@augsburg.edu.

Augsburg Total Wellness: Biometrics Health Screen

submitted by peterlin@augsburg.edu

Dear Augsburg Faculty and Staff,

Did you know that many Americans have significant health risks that they are not aware of? This includes:

-In 2014, 29.1 million people had diabetes or 9.3% of the U.S. population (almost 1/3 of them don’t know they have it)
-One out of three U.S. adults – 34% has high blood pressure.
-More than one-third of adults and almost 17% of youth were obese in 2014.
-About 1 or every 6 adult Americans has high blood cholesterol.

Could you have an undiagnosed health risk? Knowing your health risks is the first step in taking charge of your health.

That’s why Augsburg Total Wellness will be continuing to offer free, confidential health and wellness screenings this January! The biometrics health screening is completely voluntary. But we hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to learn more so that you can improve your health – starting now.

Screenings will include a brief health questionnaire and the following simple tests:

-Cholesterol
-Height, Weight
-Glucose(blood sugar)
-Blood Pressure
-Body Mass Index (BMI)

Registration information will be sent via email soon!
