Augsburg Total Wellness: School Supply Drive

submitted by peterlin@augsburg.edu

The academic year is basically around the corner, which means kiddos–and young adults–are starting to get excited (and maybe a little nervous) for their first day back at school.

To kick off the academic year, Augsburg Total Wellness is sponsoring a School Supply Drive to feel good, by doing good. All donations will be delivered to People Serving People. This non-profit organization is located in Minneapolis. As the largest and most comprehensive, family-focused homeless shelter in Minnesota, your donations will have a huge impact in our community. Learn more about People Serving People at their website: http://www.peopleservingpeople.org/.

Thousands of students across the country are heading back to school in just a few short weeks. Let’s help make sure each and every one has the supplies they need to be successful! From August 13th to August 31st, donations will be accepted in Human Resources, Memorial Hall, Room 19.

The supplies that are most requested (new items only) are listed below:

#2 Pencils
alarm clocks
calculator
colored pencils
crayons-24 pack
folders
pencil box
pencil sharpener
pens
ruler
school bags/backpacks
scissors–youth size

Attention book and video lovers

submitted by holleric@augsburg.edu

Lindell Library is withdrawing hundreds of videos from its VHS collection. These are titles that have not been checked out a single time in the last 5 years (most have not been checked out in the past 10+ years). If you still own a VCR and are interested, please help yourself to any of our discarded titles – they will be on display in the Learning Commons all week.

We also have hundreds of bookends that could use a good home and these will be on a table near the VHS cassettes. The bookends are all off white in color, metal with a magnetic base to hold them in place, and measure 5″ deep x 9″ high. See photo at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1HXUOy8XrYpogI2bg59MQHhL377FjWPbo. Help yourself!
