The Sierra Club North Star Chapter is looking for poetry submissions for its bi-annual journal.
For this issue’s poetry prompt, we’re condensing a nine-line form called the “nonet” into five lines that we’ve named “The Minnesota Countdown.” In this form, each of the five lines has one fewer syllable than the one before. Here’s what it looks like:
5 syllables
4 syllables
3 syllables
2 syllables
1 syllable
For the subject of your poem, please choose something in Minnesota that you look forward to in spring or summer. What is your “Minnesota Countdown”?
