Some examples of Opinions content topics include comics, critiques of Augsburg administration and leadership, experiences of marginalized identities, raising awareness for social issues, political views and more. Check out the opinions section on our website for more examples.

Section editors are compensated $60 per issue and work approximately six hours total each week. Only mandatory times are our general meeting and staff meeting each week.

Apple has released a new operating system, Monterey. Augsburg-owned Macintoshes should be prevented from doing the upgrade through our management software. This is to prevent things breaking with an upgrade like campus printing. We’ll be testing Monterey and will make it available to Augsburg-owned Macs when we know it won’t break important services like printing.

If you are using a personal Mac and are currently printing to campus printers we recommend not upgrading to Monterey until we’ve tested it out. Campus printing will likely not work after the upgrade based on past experiences.

Augsburg Echo – Opinions

As a result of funding provided by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, funds are being disbursed to all students enrolled this fall semester. Emails were sent on Friday with information about how to access this funding.

Following guidance by the Department of Education, grant amounts were primarily determined by a student’s program type and their Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the FAFSA. We understand that students have experienced a multitude of disruptions in the midst of this pandemic, including financial distress. We hope this funding can provide some small relief during this challenging time.

In addition to this federal grant, we also want to remind students whose financial circumstances have changed that a special circumstance application for financial aid is available on the Student Financial Services website. Changed circumstances may include, but are not limited to, job loss, reduction of income, change to household size, one-time sources of income, etc.

STEM Peer Mentoring is a student-led mentoring program that focuses on providing support to First-years and Sophomores as they navigate their academic and professional careers in STEM.

Having a Mentor in STEM Peer Mentoring can be a major benefit in establishing the success of your STEM career. If you’re a first-year or sophomore in a STEM major interested in having a mentor and want to learn more about internships, scholarships, certain classes, etc… This is for you !

Augsburg’s STEM majors include:

Students are matched according to their major and information they provide on the STEM Peer Mentoring Application (see link below!).

Join us in wishing Lee George well as he departs Augsburg for a new career opportunity. Lee has been a much-loved member of the Augsburg community during his time in both the Office of Institutional Advancement and more recently, as the Director of the Strommen Center for Meaningful Work.

During his time at Augsburg, Lee has helped to frame key strategic work around workforce readiness and employer partnerships. Lee is a compelling storyteller and he has shared his gift for articulating the Augsburg mission with many of us, helping us feel connected to the institution in powerful ways.

Lee has been a cherished colleague, always ready with a warm welcome and sense of joy for being at work. Lee will be greatly missed and we wish him well on his journey.

Students are matched according to their major and information they provide on the STEM Peer Mentoring Application (see link below!).

Generally, students are asked to commit about 2-3 hours/month of involvement as they meet one-on-one with their mentor and attend occasional group meetings.

The CLASS Disability Resources Office is hiring test proctors for this academic year. This is an on-call position with most requests for proctoring during midterms and finals week. Students – don’t forget about TutorMe! It is available to Augsburg students 24/7 and offers tutoring in over 300 subjects from qualified tutors. Students are able to use 3 hours a week; 3 one hour sessions or 6 thirty-minute sessions. You can access TutorMe through any of your Moodle classes. At the top left of your screen there is an orange tab to see the side panel of resources. As you scroll down, you will see the “Augsburg Tools” section and underneath is the link to TutorMe. For more information on other tutoring and academic skills options, please click “Tutoring & Academic Skills Information”.
