Disabled Student Looking for a PCA

submitted by dipaolaz@augsburg.edu

Hi, my name is Zander. I am a Senior, and I am disabled and in a wheelchair. I am looking for a backup PCA to help out when my regular PCA can’t. You do not need to be trained to be a PCA, as I will provide all of the training you will need, as it is not that technical of a job. My PCA comes to my dorm every day to help me with certain tasks that I cannot complete in a timely manner.. You would come when my main PCA needs a day off or can’t make it that day for different reasons, and help me with the tasks that they would usually help me with on that day. Some of the tasks you would do daily are refilling water bottles, refilling humidifiers, and making a bed. Expect this to take 15 or 30 minutes out of your day. Then, on top of that, I also require assistance with bathing once a week. Expect that to take an hour once a week. This job comes with very flexible hours. I will tell you what day I would need you, and you would pick a time on that day that you would come. There is no set required time that you have to come each day. The rate for this job will be $13 an hour; however, you are usually not there longer than an hour, so it usually turns out to $13 per day. If you are interested in helping me out and scheduling an interview, contact me at (612)430-3233 or at dipaolaz@augsburg.edu.

Hi, My name is Beth Garcia I am a 3rd year Biopsychology and Chemistry student. As I was wrapping up my summer research through McNair.

On July 25th—my mom’s birthday—both of my parents were hospitalized. My dad is battling pneumonia, and my mom had to undergo emergency surgery to remove her appendix. She’s also experiencing respiratory issues.
This has been incredibly hard on my family, emotionally and financially. We’ve created a GoFundMe to help with their medical bills and recovery costs.

3-Bedroom Apartment for Rent

submitted by mancinim@augsburg.edu

This 3-bedroom apartment, with high ceilings, large windows and a gorgeous color scheme, is available May 1. Walking distance to Augsburg, 1 block South of Franklin Avenue. Our South-facing windows get great light in the winter months when the sun is low in the sky. Grape vines now cover some of the windows in the summer and keep things fresh (and delicious).

Amazing location – close to the 2, 7, 8 and 9 bus lines, the Greenway, Augsburg, U of M, and walking distance to everything the Seward neighborhood has to offer.

The size of the bedrooms vary considerably, so this space is good for folks with different space and/or budget requirements. The whole apartment is 1100 square feet, and bedrooms range from 7 x 11 feet (the smallest) to approximately 12 x 13 (the largest). One bathroom.

We’ve had lovely families make very good use of the space, and lovely roommate households, as well. If you are a set of three roommates, you might consider breaking rents out as $550, $650, and $750, depending on what feels fair to everyone in your household.

The house is owner-occupied in the upstairs unit. We are a queer family: one gringa, one mexicana, and two bilingual perritos—our hypoallergenic fur babies. Ever since 2012, our house has been home to folks of many races, ethnicities and genders, and we’re excited to find out who will be next to share our home!

Free laundry in basement, small shed for bikes, imperfectly fenced back yard. Tenants pay most utilities (heat, electric, internet). Owner pays water, sewer and trash. Each of the two apartments in our duplex is responsible for shoveling every other week throughout the winter.

Up to two well-trained pets are negotiable, with strong preference for low-allergy types, and additional pet rent of $25/month/pet. No smoking in the house.

One-year lease, which becomes flexible after a year.

Drop us a line if you’re interested, with a little about yourselves and what it is that draws your crew to the space.

Would You Like a Table?

submitted by vanclev1@augsburg.edu

The library has a table, seating 4, that we are not using. It is 28.5″ high and 53″ in diameter. The table is sturdy but it does have scratches and some signs of wear and tear. Nothing a can of Pledge can’t fix! This will be available to the Augsburg community until 3/28 before we will find someone else who will take it.

Support a Rescue Puppy

submitted by heisekat@augsburg.edu

Hello! My name is Rin Heise and I’m one of the Academic Advisors in TRIO/SSS. I’ve recently rescued a puppy (photos in link) and in an effort to be eco-friendly I’m asking for donations of any dog supplies folks may no longer need. The puppy’s name is Winston and he is a cattle-dog mix, a little over six months old, and about 30 lbs. You can email me at heisekat@augsburg.edu with questions and to coordinate a pick-up or drop-off of supplies. Thank you in advance!
