Need Event Decor? Floral Wall Hangings and Craft Supplies Available

submitted by froehlic@augsburg.edu

Are you looking for decorations to spruce up your graduation party or baby shower? Maybe you want to make a selfie wall for another event? I have some decorations to give away. They are made with craft paint and paper plates. They look similar to the ones on this website, except mine are painted with pastel paint: https://onelittleproject.com/paper-plate-flowers/

I made them for a fundraising breakfast event where we didn’t end up needing them. I have about 25 made already. I will give you the craft paint, paper plates, and brass fasteners needed to finish the job if you have a reason to put them to good use.

Interested? Please email froehlic@augsburg.edu. First one who can pick it up from me at Augsburg will be the first to get them.

Did You See Something? Car Break-in

submitted by edensm@augsburg.edu

Yesterday (Monday), I parked my Blue Hyundai Accent in front of the Chapel/Anderson music building at 5:05pm, and came back at 6:25pm to find my passenger-side window broken and all of my possessions inside stolen. It was parked in the front of the row of cars underneath the skyway, right next to that three corner, so it’s not hard to miss. If you were walking past the chapel, or anywhere around that area, between this time frame and happened to notice ANYONE standing near my car or anything, please email me back with any information you might have. Any descriptions or information will go a long way considering there are little to no cameras on campus to provide proper assistance.

If it’s any help, my backpack was a gray Jansport bag with a tan bottom, and I was able to find my iPad at the corner of Riverside Park at 6:35pm where it was left in the snow (probably because of the tracker).

Again, any help will go a long way, especially since there’s usually a lot of foot traffic around that area.

MNUDL: Seeking Fluent Spanish Speakers for Paid Opportunity

submitted by froehlic@augsburg.edu

The Minnesota Urban Debate League is seeking authentic voices for a new volunteer opportunity!

WHAT WE DO

The MN Urban Debate League (MNUDL) is a program of Augsburg University. We provide academic competitive debate programming to 1,200+ middle and high school students in the Twin Cities. Learn about our work here: https://mnudl.augsburg.edu/

We know that one of the reasons debate helps students improve their literacy is that students are engaging with all four foundational skills of literacy: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

WHAT WE NEED

One of the most powerful tools we have to help rookie debaters learn is auditory supplements to our written packets. With these recordings, students at all skill levels will be able to follow along with the text as they read, learn evidence while doing other tasks like doing chores or riding the bus, and rapidly improve their literacy and information retention.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We are seeking fluent Spanish speakers to record our evidence packets at a conversational pace (120 words per minute) for the Spanish Debate League, which serves middle and high school students. The topic this year is Puerto Rico statehood. We will pay 10 fluent Spanish speakers $25 each, with an assignment of 5 abbreviated pages to read ($5/page rate).

Recordings are preferred by February 3rd, but can be submitted by February 10th.

Our voice volunteers need to be able to speak slowly, clearly, and with energy. No special recording equipment is required, although we do ask that you record in a quiet space with minimal distractions. We can edit your audio for you.

Chemistry Lab Notebooks for Sale

submitted by jorenbyb@augsburg.edu

I have two chemistry lab notebooks for sale; both in very good condition. I used them for my labs but have taken those pages out—there is still plenty of paper left (likely enough to get you through Gen Chem 1 and 2 or O Chem 1 and 2). They have the special carbon paper which is useful for using one copy to turn in and saving another copy to study/learn from. $5 for both. Email me for more info.

Thanks!
