Augsburg Total Wellness: Biometrics Health Screen

submitted by peterlin@augsburg.edu

Dear Augsburg Faculty and Staff,

Did you know that many Americans have significant health risks that they are not aware of? This includes:

-In 2014, 29.1 million people had diabetes or 9.3% of the U.S. population (almost 1/3 of them don’t know they have it)
-One out of three U.S. adults – 34% has high blood pressure.
-More than one-third of adults and almost 17% of youth were obese in 2014.
-About 1 or every 6 adult Americans has high blood cholesterol.

Could you have an undiagnosed health risk? Knowing your health risks is the first step in taking charge of your health.

That’s why Augsburg Total Wellness will be continuing to offer free, confidential health and wellness screenings this January! The biometrics health screening is completely voluntary. But we hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to learn more so that you can improve your health – starting now.

Screenings will include a brief health questionnaire and the following simple tests:

-Cholesterol
-Height, Weight
-Glucose(blood sugar)
-Blood Pressure
-Body Mass Index (BMI)

Registration information will be sent via email soon!

submitted by becker@augsburg.edu

Join the Auggie Athletic Department in our 1st annual “Stock the Campus Cupboard” food drive. Athletes and coaches are joining together to help make sure our campus cupboard is stocked and ready to serve our students for the spring semester.

Come support our Auggie basketball teams on Saturday, January 14th (WBB @ 1pm, MBB @ 3pm) and drop off your non-perishable items to donate to the Campus Cupboard. If you can’t make it on the 14th, items can be dropped anytime to Jane Becker (Si Melby 137), or directly to the Campus Cupboard.

Go Auggies!
