Campus Mailboxes Closing Soon

submitted by longj@augsburg.edu

As we near the end of another year please don’t forget to take care of your campus mailbox. This includes checking it for any mail, returning your lock and filing out the survey for what you would like us to do with your mail after this semester.

Two weeks after the spring semester ends (on May 23, 2025) we will close all student campus boxes unless they responded to the End of Year survey. If you would like your mail forwarded or would like to keep your mailbox open for the summer, please fill out this survey
(https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSen8Hb9X2VU3VbQWqr9sPleUUk0pJROmx7iM6sr-lfY4vjgMw/viewform?usp=sharing).

Before the fall semester starts we will reassign campus boxes to all residential students. Without completing the survey, it will most likely be a different number.

We are only able to forward 1st Class USPS mail. Packages must be looked at case by case. Some USPS will allow forwarding. (Reply to the Augsburg package email and we will look at that package.) Other packages (UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.), magazines, non-profit mail and standard mail will not be forwarded. We can also only forward to USA addresses. The forwarding period for the Augsburg Mailroom is two months from when the request is submitted. Afterward any additional mail we receive will be returned to sender.

We request that you contact the people/business sending you mail and update your address with them. Augsburg is classified as a business so you will not be able to do so through the US Post Office itself. Enrolling in online/electronic bills or statements can also be a smart option, it is environmentally friendly, secure and will often save you time (and sometimes money). Asking us to forward your mail does not change your mailing address with the USPS or Augsburg University, just with the Mailroom.

Advocacy Alert from College Possible

submitted by farrisr@augsburg.edu

College Possible Minnesota is a long-time Augsburg partner that helps students from low-income backgrounds find the right college, navigate the admissions process, secure financial aid, and stay on track to graduation. In the midst of uncertainty around federal funding, College Possible is asking supporters to contact Congress about the importance of continuing AmeriCorps programs.

Advocacy Request from College Possible:

Individuals can use the link below to access the form to email legislators.

To make a call, you can use the following trusted links to find your congress members’ contact information:
• U.S. House of Representatives: house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative
• U.S. Senate: senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm
• You may also call 202-224-3121 and input your zip code to be forwarded to your member’s office.

Sample phone or email script:

“Hi, my name is XXX, and I’m a supporter of College Possible Minnesota/a former AmeriCorps coach with College Possible Minnesota/I am a College Possible Minnesota student alumni.

I’m calling to urge [Senator/Representative] to stand up for AmeriCorps and ensure its funding and operations remain intact.

AmeriCorps members support programs like College Possible — helping thousands of students each year stay on track to college and changing the lives of both the students and the service members.

This is not a partisan issue — national service brings Americans together and offers a strong return on investment for local communities. I hope [Senator/Representative] will ask the White House to fully support National service and will continue to support the longstanding bipartisan investment in AmeriCorps.

Thank you for your time.”

Contact your senators and representatives to support AmeriCorps.

New Augsburg University Campus Store Partnerships

submitted by rjohn@augsburg.edu

Following a competitive bid process conducted this academic year, Augsburg has selected two new partners to run its campus store. Beginning in late May, eCampus will be the university’s partner for adopting and ordering course materials; and University Gear Shop will run the on-campus store, offering branded merchandise, supplies, and a service center for students to pick up and return course materials purchased or rented from eCampus.

We have engaged staff and faculty from various areas of campus to support this transition. Initial work is underway in IT integration, student accounts processes, and review of the physical store space. We are working with both new partners, as well as Barnes & Noble, to establish a number of key dates, including:
>>faculty training on the eCampus course adoption site,
>>final deadline for Summer Time 2 and Fall course material adoptions on the Barnes & Noble AIP system,
>>switching over to the eCampus course material adoption site and course materials online store,
>>closure and move-out of the Barnes & Noble store and re-opening of the Augsburg University Campus Store, run by University Gear Shop.

For departments needing to order Augsburg-branded merchandise in the near term, please contact marketing@augsburg.edu. The Marketing team will collaborate with University Gear Shop to help you select items and get orders placed.

Finally, as noted in the Provost’s Weekly Update, faculty should complete all Summer and Fall course material adoptions in the current Barnes & Noble AIP system as soon as possible. Between now and the to-be-confirmed cutover date, Barnes & Noble will periodically provide eCampus with data files listing all course materials adopted for Summer Time 2 and Fall terms. The earlier your adoptions are captured in the system, the more time eCampus will have to source the needed materials for your courses.

Please watch for future A-mail posts for specific transition milestone dates, as they are confirmed.

Need Your Mail Forwarded?

submitted by longj@augsburg.edu

Welcome Back to Greta, Our Community Garden Coordinator

submitted by finka2@augsburg.edu

Please extend a warm welcome to Greta Klawiter Lein, who is returning to Augsburg for her second season as our Community Garden Coordinator. We are very excited to have her back! You can reach Greta with all garden related questions at: klawiter@augsburg.edu

Keep an eye out for messages about a Garden opener and other garden-related events.

Here’s a quick note of introduction from Greta herself:

I’m Greta Klawiter-Lein, and I’m back on campus for my second season as the Community Garden Coordinator. I’ve been involved in community gardening in North Minneapolis for the past 6 years, and I love being around people and growing food—which makes this work such a perfect fit for me. I believe in the power of autonomous food production and the collective, revolutionary work that happens when we grow food together. I believe that resources, knowledge and joy should be shared, which is why I love being a part of community gardening. I’m excited for another season in the garden!

Don’t Forget Your Mail

submitted by longj@augsburg.edu

There is also an option to keep your current campus box number for the next semester if you will be returning in the fall.

Summer Campus boxes will close early August (on August 8, 2025) to give time to reset for the fall semester.
