As we near the end of another year please don’t forget to take care of your campus mailbox. This includes checking it for any mail, returning your lock and filing out the survey for what you would like us to do with your mail after this semester.

We are only able to forward 1st Class USPS mail. Packages must be looked at case by case. Some USPS will allow forwarding. (Reply to the Augsburg package email and we will look at that package.) Please extend a warm welcome to Greta Klawiter Lein, who is returning to Augsburg for her second season as our Community Garden Coordinator. We are very excited to have her back! You can reach Greta with all garden related questions at: klawiter@augsburg.edu
Keep an eye out for messages about a Garden opener and other garden-related events.
Here’s a quick note of introduction from Greta herself:
I’m Greta Klawiter-Lein, and I’m back on campus for my second season as the Community Garden Coordinator. I’ve been involved in community gardening in North Minneapolis for the past 6 years, and I love being around people and growing food—which makes this work such a perfect fit for me. I believe in the power of autonomous food production and the collective, revolutionary work that happens when we grow food together. I believe that resources, knowledge and joy should be shared, which is why I love being a part of community gardening. I’m excited for another season in the garden!

As we near the end of another year please don’t forget to take care of your campus mailbox. This includes checking it for any mail, returning your lock and filing out the survey for what you would like us to do with your mail after this semester.
Two weeks after the spring semester ends (on May 23, 2025) we will close all student campus boxes unless they responded to the End of Year survey. If you would like your mail forwarded or would like to keep your mailbox open for the summer, please fill out this survey
(https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSen8Hb9X2VU3VbQWqr9sPleUUk0pJROmx7iM6sr-lfY4vjgMw/viewform?usp=sharing).
There is also an option to keep your current campus box number for the next semester if you will be returning in the fall.
We are only able to forward 1st Class USPS mail. Packages must be looked at case by case. Some USPS will allow forwarding. (Reply to the Augsburg package email and we will look at that package.) Other packages (UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc.), magazines, non-profit mail and standard mail will not be forwarded. We can also only forward to USA addresses. The forwarding period for the Augsburg Mailroom is two months from when the request is submitted. Afterward any additional mail we receive will be returned to sender.
We request that you contact the people/business sending you mail and update your address with them. Augsburg is classified as a business so you will not be able to do so through the US Post Office itself. Enrolling in online/electronic bills or statements can also be a smart option, it is environmentally friendly, secure and will often save you time (and sometimes money). Asking us to forward your mail does not change your mailing address with the USPS or Augsburg University, just with the Mailroom.
Summer Campus boxes will close early August (on August 8, 2025) to give time to reset for the fall semester.

From OPEIU Local 12:
“Dear Local 12 members,
We are devastated to share the shocking news that our beloved staff member Molly Thul unexpectedly passed away this week. Molly was the most senior employee at Local 12, and played a critical role in working with membership to transform our local from a sleepy, passive organization to a deliberate, organized, fighting union.
Molly grew up in Burnsville and began working in foodservice at MSP airport as a teenager. Over the decades at MSP she became a committed union activist with UNITE HERE Local 17, serving as a steward and campaigning to bring in a new generation of leadership at Local 17. She later became a staff rep for Local 17, and OPEIU Local 12 hired her in 2020. Molly began at OPEIU the week COVID shutdowns began, and handled that unexpected situation with professional aplomb, along with many other difficult surprises that arose over the years.
Molly leaves behind a teenage son and daughter, and is also survived by her father and two brothers, along with many other loving friends and family members. Local 12 will provide information about services or memorials once they are announced by the family.
If your unit has been represented by Molly, please email eboard@opeiu12.org for now with any questions or issues regarding representation or bargaining. Local 12 will work with OPEIU International to best determine next steps for these groups. Local 12 is a small organization with only 3 full-time staff members so things may be a bit chaotic or slow for the next few weeks as we sort everything out.
Sending everyone the best in love and solidarity,
Your OPEIU Local 12 Executive Board and Staff”
Feel free to also reach out to Augsburg Staff Union Team if you have any questions.
