Changes Coming to Augsburg’s Information Systems

submitted by krajewsk@augsburg.edu

Hello Augsburg students, faculty, and staff,

Over the next 3 years, Augsburg will be changing its primary information system (called Unit4 or formerly Agresso) to Workday. This change will involve moving from our current campus-based Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system with numerous third-party systems to Workday’s, cloud-based ERP system.

Workday is currently used by Hamline University, Carleton College, and Minnesota State is transitioning to Workday. 60% of Minnesota’s top 20 employers use Workday and 50% of private sector employees in Minnesota are employed by companies that use Workday (statistics provided by Workday).

This will be a complex, multi-year, campus-wide project that involves how we manage student records, registration, human resources, finances, and more. Simply put, how you interact with Augsburg as a student or employee will be changing and improving once we have made the change. How you register for classes, record time worked and time off, submit grades for your courses, and so on—all will be modernized and, ideally, improved.

Such a change can be both exciting and daunting for people so we intend to support you in this transition with information, communication, training, and campus engagement as the project moves forward.

On the project web page https://sites.augsburg.edu/it/about-it/cloud-erp-project/ you’ll find information on project timeline, decision process, and project goals. If you have any questions about the project please feel free to reach out to me at any time.

Somatic Coaching: Embodying the Life You Long For

submitted by rohlfsen@augsburg.edu

Hi All, Nichole here (Program Manager for Customized Programs at the Center for Global Education & Experience/CGEE). I’m a recently certified Somatic Coach through Strozzi Institute’s Somatic Coaching Certification Program and currently have space for 1-2 new clients (sliding scale fee offered). If interested, please email me at rohlfsen@augsburg.edu with any questions you have and/or to set up a time to connect in person or virtually.

Why Somatic Coaching?
Somatic coaching is a way for us to be in practice with what we want to change. Many of us have been in situations or even life stages when we’ve felt unsure of who we are, what we want, and where we really belong. Many of us have also learned or been taught to disconnect from our bodies, uncomfortable sensations, thoughts and emotions, and deeper parts of ourselves from a young age. In somatic coaching, we get to be curious about what currently lives in the body and the Self, and what wants to emerge and needs to shift in order for us to embody the lives we long for.

Nichole (she/her) brings years of dance, movement, yoga, and other somatic experiences into her current role as a somatic coach, as well as deep curiosity and care for tender parts of ourselves. She is skilled at being a space holder for uncomfortable thoughts, emotions, and sensations, and is honored to be able to sit with others in their grief, shame, and sadness. She also loves to support others in building more capacity for joy, playfulness, creative expression, and spiritual connection, and to create possibilities to thrive.

In this work together, she can promise deeper awareness of self and others; practices to build embodied skills (such as centered boundaries and generative conflict) needed for the person you want to become; more space for more of you to be seen, heard and dignified; a greater sense of internal safety that creates more possibility for taking risks that matter; and more joy, connection, and aliveness.

Zoom Cloud Recording Available for Faculty and Staff

submitted by krajewsk@augsburg.edu

Faculty and staff can now choose to save their Zoom meeting recordings either on their computer or in the Zoom cloud. Recordings in the Zoom cloud can be downloaded at any time by the meeting host. Cloud recordings are automatically transcribed to text. The host will receive an email from Zoom when a cloud recording is ready for viewing.

Recordings will remain in the cloud for 6 months. After which, they are moved to the trash for 30 days before being deleted automatically. Zoom will email the meeting host 7 days before recordings are deleted.

Recordings can be managed in the Zoom web portal https://augsburg.zoom.us/recording/. Recordings can be shared via a link much like Google Docs.

Students can record meetings they host on their computer. This has not changed.

First-Generation Survey for Augsburg Faculty and Staff

submitted by crombie@augsburg.edu

In recognition of First-Generation College Celebration Day (Nov. 8), Augsburg will be hosting events that highlight the first-generation college experience during the week of November 3. If you have any questions or comments about this survey or about the Augsburg First-Generation project, please contact Vern Klobassa, Batalden Assistant Dean of Student Success and Belonging, klobassa@augsburg.edu.

First-Generation Survey for Augsburg Faculty and Staff

submitted by crombie@augsburg.edu

In recognition of First-Generation College Celebration Day (Nov. 8), Augsburg will be hosting events that highlight the first-generation college experience during the week of November 3. These events will be geared to students, but all of the university community is welcome to attend. More information will be provided in the upcoming weeks.

In addition to this programming, we’re asking faculty and staff to complete this brief First-Generation Augsburg Community Survey. The information collected will be used to create ongoing resources and support for first-generation students here at Augsburg. Please provide as much information as you’re comfortable sharing. NOTE: This is the same survey we released previous years, so if you already submitted a response, no need to do so again!

If you have any questions or comments about this survey or about the Augsburg First-Generation project, please contact Vern Klobassa, Batalden Assistant Dean of Student Success and Belonging, klobassa@augsburg.edu.
