The Strommen Center is Open For Business (Virtually)

Welcome back students! The Strommen Center is open for business & we have new & improved online career services for you.

The Strommen Center has built and is implementing a few new resources for students. I want to draw your attention to the following:

-Regular employment communications for positions that need to be filled immediately. We are aware that many students have lost employment and still need to generate income. We are working with employer partners, listservs, and staffing agencies to find opportunities for students.

-An updated Strommen Community Moodle site with resources for students, job boards, and employment information. Please take a look and let us know what else you might need. (https://moodle.augsburg.edu/moodlecommunity/course/view.php?id=1095)

-Increased virtual coaching sessions. We are working with some partnering organizations, like UpTurnships, and professional career coaches who are offering their services pro bono. We will be using Zoom and Google Hangouts for these sessions. You can make appointments on Handshake.

-Virtual Drop-In Appointments using Zoom with Peer Advisors begin on April 7, 10 am – 3:45 pm.

-Online workshops centered on connection to industry professionals, alumni, and career development curriculum. These events will be posted on Handshake.

We have also put together a specific task force to monitor employment and internship trends for this summer and to develop strategies for supporting students looking for positions and specifically graduating seniors looking to transition to their first post-academic opportunity. Our mission is to create a structure for coaching and advising students on post academic opportunities whether that is employment, graduate school, or volunteer service.

The Strommen team has been working on these items and a number of other things to be prepared to serve the student body. Please let us know what is on your mind and what else you might need.
