Multi-Factor Authentication Requirement for Students Begins December 21

submitted by matthias@augsburg.edu

This year, Augsburg has committed to improving its cyber-security awareness in an effort to protect against cyber threats and to protect your data. As part of this initiative, Augsburg is implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

Starting December 21st, Multi-Factor Authentication, using Duo, will be required for online services using Inside Augsburg for the login. These include tools like email, Moodle, Zoom, and more. Since this is a noticeable change to how you access your Augsburg online tools, we encourage you to opt-in to using Duo before December 21st..

To do so, please take the following steps…

(1) Download the “Duo Mobile” app from your phone’s app store.

(2) Enroll your phone and Duo Mobile app at https://duo.augsburg.edu

(3) Use the opt-in form at https://go.augsburg.edu/mfaoptin to sign up to begin using Duo.

Our Multi-Factor Authentication FAQ can answer many questions about this change. This stage in our continued journey to improve information security is an important one and we look forward to a smooth transition to a more secure digital environment.

URGO Offering Travel Grants for Student Researchers

submitted by pearsong@augsburg.edu

URGO has a limited amount if travel funding to award this academic year. URGO offers up to $850 in travel funding for Augsburg undergraduates who have been accepted to present research at a professional conference. These funds can mitigate the high costs of travel such as airfare and lodging, and can contribute to students’ professionalization.

The application is available at the URGO website (www.augsburg.edu/urgo) at the “conference travel” page. Grants are awarded on a rolling basis, so students are encouraged to work with their research mentor to submit a travel application as soon as possible after receiving acceptance to a conference. The URGO Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly throughout the school year and will begin reviewing applications November 14th.

If you have any questions about undergraduate conference travel opportunities, please contact Dixie Shafer at shafer@augsburg.edu or x1447.
