November 8 was selected as the date for the annual National First-Generation College Celebration to honor the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965. The Higher Education Act (“HEA”) emerged from President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty. This year, TRIO/Student Support Services, TRIO/McNair Scholars Program and MLife at Augsburg will be celebrating national first-generation day through various events on campus.
Monday, November 7th:
Social Media Challenge! Kick off celebrating First Generation Day this week by posting on social media. Take a photo and use #celebrateFirstGen! on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
