Eight Augsburg students majoring in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics competed in the 24th annual North Central Section Mathematical Association of America Heuer Memorial Team Contest. Shadin Elkhair, Max Figura, Sean Gaffaney, Jimmy Hemera, Diana Ortiz, Alinase Phiri, Devonna Singer, and Bjorn Solberg formed three teams that wrestled with ten challenging mathematical problems from a wide range of mathematical fields using only whiteboards, markers, paper and pencil, and three hours on a Saturday morning! Thanks to Unbounded Math Club and their advisor Rich Flint for nourishing the competitors with snacks and pizza.
