Volunteer Your Time, Support Students’ Growth: The MNUDL Needs Summer Debate Judges
Help Our Campers Develop Their Skills!
Sign Up to Judge Debates at MDAW
The Minnesota Urban Debate League, a program of Augsburg University, is hosting multiple debate camps on Augsburg University’s campus for the next 3 weeks. We’ve got volunteer opportunities available almost every day of camp!
We’re looking for debate judges to visit us on campus at Augsburg University and help our campers build their skills in a fun, low-stakes environment. We need judges for beginner and advanced high school and middle school debate campers. No debate experience is needed for beginner rounds! Weeknight and weekend shifts available.
Sign up here to judge rounds! https://mnudl.augsburg.edu/volunteer-opportunities/

Recently a task force represented by Equity and Inclusion Initiatives, CLASS Disability Services, Facilities Management, Public Safety, Marketing and Communication, and Residential Life developed a more streamlined process for communicating to the campus community when an elevator isn’t working normally.
As part of this new process, a new opt-in listserv will offer timely information and updates about elevator status around campus, including when normal service resumes after an elevator has been out of order. If this information would help you avoid disruptions and navigate campus more easily, please subscribe at the link below.

This week, nineteen new Auggies start their university life with the 2023 TRIO/SSS Summer Bridge program. This five-week, intensive, residential and academic learning community is offered to incoming first-year students who then participate in TRIO/SSS all four years at Augsburg.
From June 25 through July 27, Summer Bridge students complete the courses COM111: Public Speaking and TRI101: Navigating the Hidden Curriculum of Higher Education. They learn about university resources, develop academic skills, and participate in social and cultural activities to develop a strong sense of community through learning and living together.
Summer Bridge and TRIO/ Student Support Services are jointly funded by the U.S. Department of Education and Augsburg University. Great appreciation goes to campus partners* who continue to help make this program a huge success every year!
*Special kudos to staff in Campus Life and SOAR, Residence Life, Academic Advising, Registrar, CLASS Disability Resources, Campus Events, Dining Services, and Professor Kristin Chamberlain who accepted the new challenge of teaching the five-week version of Public Speaking!
