TODAY: NSF PRISM Project Virtual Knowledge Generation Presentation

The PRISM scholarship program supports STEM scholars at Augsburg University, Century College, Minneapolis College, and Normandale Community College. The $5 million National Science Foundation (NSF) grant also supports knowledge generation (education research) to explore how PRISM activities support scholar academic, social, and professional outcomes.

All are welcome to join a virtual presentation via Zoom. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about preliminary results of propensity score matching analysis, PRISM student surveys, and qualitative analysis of scholar and mentor interviews.

Conflict is inevitable in all organizations and can be an important growth opportunity for individuals and teams. Using Killman’s Model of Conflict we will help you identify conflict management styles, learn to approach conflict with curiosity and effectively communicate through conflict.

Share Your Time and Support Students as a Volunteer Judge at the MNUDL’s Summer Speech and Debate Camp

Do you work at Augsburg? Do you want to see one of the university’s most exciting programs in action? Check out the MN Urban Debate League’s Summer Speech & Debate Camp this Friday! We’re seeking volunteers, and we’ve got three choices for you to share your time! https://mnudl.augsburg.edu/volunteer-opportunities/

• Do you have extensive policy debate experience? We need your expertise at High School Policy Debate camp at 4 PM. (Please do not sign up to judge this one if you are not familiar with policy debate!)

• Have experience in Student Congress, or an interest in debate in general? We need you to help our middle school students with their Congressional Debate tournament at 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM.

• We need judges for our Speech (Public Address & Limited Prep) tournament for middle schoolers! Students will perform Persuasive & Informative speeches at 10:30 AM and Impromptu & Extemporaneous Speeches at 1:00 PM. (We love experienced speech folks, but if you don’t have speech or debate experience, this is a great place to start!)

New Staff Position: Seasonal Assistant Soccer Goalie Coach

Summary of Position

Assists the Head Coach with coaching and training, student-athlete retention, advising and mentoring student-athletes.

Primary Responsibilities

– Instruct student-athletes on physical health, team concepts, safety, and sport-specific skills on both an individual and team basis

– Teach, advise and mentor student-athletes on life-skills.

– Create sport-specific practice and game/meet plans

Additional Responsibilities

– Assist with maintaining acceptable student-athlete retention rates to the team and/or institution

– Assist with camps and clinics

– All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s).
