submitted by rodrig@augsburg.edu

Next week, twelve new Auggies start their university life with the 2026 TRIO/SSS Summer Bridge program. This four-week, intensive, residential and academic learning community is offered to incoming first-year students who then participate in TRIO/SSS all four years at Augsburg.

Starting Sunday, June 21 through Thursday, July 16, Summer Bridge students will complete two courses; SOC 277: Introduction to Criminology & COM111:Navigating the Hidden Curriculum of Higher Education. In addition, students will learn about university resources, develop academic skills, and participate in social and cultural activities to develop a strong sense of community through learning and living together.

Summer Bridge and TRIO/ Student Support Services are jointly funded by the U.S. Department of Education and Augsburg University. Great appreciation goes to campus partners* who continue to help make this program a huge success every year!

*Special kudos to staff in Campus Life and SOAR, Residence Life, Academic Advising, Student Financial Services, Registrar, Undergraduate Admissions, CLASS Disability Resources, The Dean’s Office, University Events, Dining Services, Campus Ministry and Professor Nathan Erickson who is willing to teach Introduction to Criminology for the program.
