The east elevator in Lindell Library is currently out of service. The west elevator is still functioning properly. Facilities and Public Safety are aware of the outage, and the elevator service provider has been contacted.

Augsburg’s QIPOC is passing this message on from PsyD student Jocelyn Early-Hubelbank attending Loyola University Maryland.
“My study is looking to gain greater understanding of how queer students on a college campus experience belonging in queer spaces on campus. Specifically, I would like to know how religious worldview may impact the experience of belonging for queer students who are also people of color. I use “queer” in the study to refer, generally, to individuals who have a minority sexual orientation (i.e., gay, bisexual, pansexual, etc.), as well as those who specifically refer to their sexual orientation as “queer.” Completing the survey should take approximately 15 minutes. Participants will be given the chance to enter a raffle for one of four $50 Vias gift cards.
Eligible participants in my study are all undergraduate students, who are at least 18 years of age, and identify as queer.

The Business Office will be closing at noon on Wednesday, September 9th, and Thursday, September 10th, in order to complete testing for our new Workday ERP system. We will be open our normal business hours on Friday September 11th.

Volunteers are needed on Thursday, September 17 to support the Cedar Riverside Multicultural Dinner. The Multicultural Dinner is an annual event, held in Currie Park adjacent to the Brian Coyle Center, from 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM. The event brings together people from all corners of the Cedar Riverside neighborhood to share a meal, celebrate the rich diversity of the neighborhood, and build community. Typically 500+ people attend. Volunteer tasks include set-up, clean-up, and serving food. To learn more about volunteer needs and to sign-up to volunteer, use the link below.

Open Streets Cedarfest is happening on Sunday, Sept. 13 from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the intersection of Cedar Ave and Riverside Ave, just a few blocks from the Augsburg campus. Featured Speaker: Matthew Beckman, PhD
Talk: Daphnia magna: A Model Organism for Ecological, Evolutionary, and Biomedical Research

Prof. Beckman will discuss how his lab uses Daphnia species (water fleas) to investigate the evolution of cyclopia, animal movement, and organisms’ responses to changing chemical and physical environments. He will also share insights from his academic and research journey.
