Last Day for Writing Contest

submitted by starckl@augsburg.edu

The local nonprofit Threads Dance Project (one of our neighbors!) is hosting a summer writing contest and hoping that members of the Augsburg community will participate.

Participants are asked to create a piece of writing inspired by one of four photographs from the Threads archives. Two winners will be chosen, and their work will be transformed and choreographed into a live performance piece that will be presented this fall. The new deadline is TONIGHT at 11:59 p.m. See below for more details.

“Dance Inspired By You” –

Threads Dance Project is holding an open call for community stories to celebrate our fifteen-year anniversary of telling stories of the human condition, often grounded in social justice. The extension deadline is Friday, June 26th, 2026.

Threads Dance Project Artistic/Executive Director, Karen Charles, is continuing this tradition, but in an expanded way, by calling on the community to create stories based on photographs that will form the basis of a new work, “Tell Me A Story”.

Threads is seeking Twin Cities-based artists, writers, and community members who want their words to come to life. Winning submissions will receive a $500.00 cash prize and have their work transformed into dance as part of our fall “Love Evolving” Anniversary Show.
