Calling all student organizations!

Sign up to be a vendor during this year’s Taste of Augsburg Homecoming event. Interact with fellow students, alumni, and friends of the university while fundraising for your student group!

As a vendor, students are encouraged to sell a product (food, pom poms, etc.), or a service (carnival game, face painting, etc.). Groups are responsible for the cost of the product/service, but any profit made will be yours to keep.

Booths tied to the football game will have an option to close at 1 pm.
Alumni Relations will be awarding up to $1,000 in seed money for student groups & athletic teams to help purchase supplies. Money will be awarded on a rolling basis until all money is spent.
Up to $100 for groups offering food—main or side dishes
Up to $50 for groups offering dessert or beverage items
$25-$50 for groups offering games or activities

Fill out the Seed Money Application by Friday, September 23, 2021.

Vendor Registration is open through Friday, September 17, 2021.

Become a Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Fellow – Apply by September 5

The Center for Teaching and Learning at Augsburg is seeking TWO faculty members to join the CTL Fellows program for a 2-year term (Sep 2021-Aug 2023). The group of six CTL fellows work closely with the Director of CTL, Jennifer Bankers-Fulbright, to plan, coordinate, and sometimes even host the teaching and learning programming offered to Augsburg faculty throughout the year. Each fellow receives a stipend of $500 per year as well as an additional $1000 in travel funds per year to attend additional teaching and learning focused conferences and bring ideas and information back to CTL.

The minimum qualifications for these two fellowship openings are that you must:
– be a full-time faculty member at Augsburg (tenure-track or non-tenure track),
– have at least an introductory knowledge of effective pedagogies at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, and
– have completed the Augsburg University Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program (or are on track to complete it during the Fall 2021 semester)

Join us this fall as we read and discuss the book Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning by James M. Lang. Each chapter begins with illustrative anecdotes, overviews the relevant research on student learning (in lay language), describes easy-to-implement teaching strategies, ideas, and activities to enhance student learning, and ends with a handy bullet list summary (great for skimming). This is a no-guilt book group. You are welcome at a session no matter how much or little of the reading you were able to complete.

Community Coach & Judge Roles

We are looking for community coaches for the 2020-21 season. Community coaches are experienced debaters who want to share their expertise with students and collaborate with teacher coaches at our area schools. Applicants who competed in Policy/Cross-Examination, Lincoln Douglas, or Public Forum debate as high schoolers/college students would be highly preferred. As we approach the start of the fall semester, there will be some changes to building access to help facilitate a transition back to campus and in-person instruction. The changes to building access began on 8/25 – please read below to see how building access will be changing.

The following buildings will be open to the public from 7 am – 7 pm and will be accessible by fob from 7 pm – 10 pm:
– Lindell Library (hours will vary based on when the Library is open)

– Old Main
– Christensen Center
– Oren Gateway Center
– Anderson Lower Level

Represent Guatemala, Namibia, and Sweden at Model UN this Fall

Apply now to take the fall semester Model United Nations course, POL 368. Members of this class will participate in the American Model United Nations from November 20-23, 2021, held in Chicago, IL.

In this course, you will gain in-depth understanding of the United Nations and international diplomacy through the process of preparation for attending the conference in November. Students research a country and set of issues for the committee on which they will serve.

The fall 2021 Augsburg delegation will be representing the countries of Guatemala, Namibia and Sweden. In addition, a focus of the class will also be the study of indigenous peoples and their connection to the United Nations, with emphasis on Canadian First Nations.

The conference provides experiential learning that enables you to develop a better understanding of the inner workings of the UN, and a forum to hone skills in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, compromise, public speaking, writing, and research. This opportunity is a great chance to put your learning into practice!

We will accept applications until September 6, 2021 or until the program fills.

Prerequisite: students must complete the POL 160 course before Fall 2021, or have relevant equivalent academic experience.

Lock your vehicle doors and do not leave property visible in your vehicle

Keep a document with information about important property (make, model, serial numbers, and distinguishing features)

STEM Peer Mentoring is a student-led mentoring program that focuses on providing support to First-years and Sophomores as they navigate their academic and professional careers in STEM.

Mentors in STEM Peer Mentoring can play a pivotal role in establishing the success of beginning STEM students. If you’re a rising Junior or Senior in a STEM major, enjoy being a leader and/or have lots of advice & resources to share — this is for you!! (Transfer students are also welcome!)

Students are matched according to their major and information they provide on the STEM Peer Mentoring Application (see link below!).

If you see yourself working someday as a youth worker, coach, teacher, counselor, etc. then you should consider registering today for YST320 WORKING WITH CHILDREN AND YOUTH. The course meets this Fall semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:40 a.m. – 11:20 a.m. This course will provide students with practical perspectives and experiences in work with children and youth. We will cover both theoretical frameworks for emancipatory work with youth and focused examinations of different types of youth work. Throughout the course, we will consider how our own positionality and experiences affect our engagements in work with youth and children. And consider adding the Youth Studies Minor to your course of studies.

Community Coach & Judge Roles

We are looking for community coaches for the 2020-21 season. Community coaches are experienced debaters who want to share their expertise with students and collaborate with teacher coaches at our area schools. Applicants who competed in Policy/Cross-Examination, Lincoln Douglas, or Public Forum debate as high schoolers/college students would be highly preferred. Become a Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Fellow – Apply by September 5

The Center for Teaching and Learning at Augsburg is seeking TWO faculty members to join the CTL Fellows program for a 2-year term (Sep 2021-Aug 2023). The group of six CTL fellows work closely with the Director of CTL, Jennifer Bankers-Fulbright, to plan, coordinate, and sometimes even host the teaching and learning programming offered to Augsburg faculty throughout the year. Each fellow receives a stipend of $500 per year as well as an additional $1000 in travel funds per year to attend additional teaching and learning focused conferences and bring ideas and information back to CTL.

The minimum qualifications for these two fellowship openings are that you must:
– be a full-time faculty member at Augsburg (tenure-track or non-tenure track),
– have at least an introductory knowledge of effective pedagogies at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, and
– have completed the Augsburg University Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program (or are on track to complete it during the Fall 2021 semester)

Join us this fall as we read and discuss the book Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning by James M. Lang. Each chapter begins with illustrative anecdotes, overviews the relevant research on student learning (in lay language), describes easy-to-implement teaching strategies, ideas, and activities to enhance student learning, and ends with a handy bullet list summary (great for skimming). This is a no-guilt book group. You are welcome at a session no matter how much or little of the reading you were able to complete.

As we approach the start of the fall semester, there will be some changes to building access to help facilitate a transition back to campus and in-person instruction. The changes to building access began on 8/25 – please read below to see how building access will be changing.

The following buildings will be open to the public from 7 am – 7 pm and will be accessible by fob from 7 pm – 10 pm:
– Lindell Library (hours will vary based on when the Library is open)
– Sverdrup
– Memorial
– Science
– Old Main
– Christensen Center
– Oren Gateway Center
– Anderson Lower Level

The following buildings will remain on fob access only from 7 am – 10 pm (with the exception of scheduled events):

– Foss Center

Study Indigenous Peoples Around the World at Model UN this Fall

Apply now to take the fall semester Model United Nations course, POL 368. Members of this class will participate in the American Model United Nations from November 20-23, 2021, held in Chicago, IL.

In this course, you will gain in-depth understanding of the United Nations and international diplomacy through the process of preparation for attending the conference in November. Students research a country and set of issues for the committee on which they will serve.

The fall 2021 Augsburg delegation will be representing the countries of Guatemala, Namibia and Sweden. In addition, a focus of the class will also be the study of indigenous peoples and their connection to theUnited Nations, with emphasis on Canadian First Nations.

The conference provides experiential learning that enables you to develop a better understanding of the inner workings of the UN, and a forum to hone skills in diplomacy, negotiation, critical thinking, compromise, public speaking, writing, and research. This opportunity is a great chance to put your learning into practice!

We will accept applications until September 1, 2021 or until the program fills.

Prerequisite: students must complete thePOL 160 course before Fall 2021, or have relevant equivalent academic experience.

Sign up to be a vendor during this year’s Taste of Augsburg Homecoming event. Interact with fellow students, alumni, and friends of the university while fundraising for your student group!

As a vendor, students are encouraged to sell a product (food, pom poms, etc.), or a service (carnival game, face painting, etc.). Groups are responsible for the cost of the product/service, but any profit made will be yours to keep.

Booths tied to the football game will have an option to close at 1 pm.
Alumni Relations will be awarding up to $1,000 in seed money for student groups & athletic teams to help purchase supplies. Money will be awarded on a rolling basis until all money is spent.
Up to $100 for groups offering food—main or side dishes
Up to $50 for groups offering dessert or beverage items
$25-$50 for groups offering games or activities

Fill out the Seed Money Application by Friday, September 23, 2021.

Vendor Registration is open through Friday, September 17, 2021.

Deadline TODAY: Drawing for Prizes Worth up to $500 for Vaccinated Students

All students vaccinated by August 31 are eligible to enter a drawing for a series of prizes that include either a $200 VISA gift card, a parking pass for the 2021-22 academic year (surface lot and street parking only) or $500 discounts on Augsburg dining and bookstore purchases.

To enter the drawing, you must have received either two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine before 11:59 p.m. on August 31. By entering this raffle, you give Augsburg University permission to confirm your vaccination status with the Minnesota Department of Health or to contact you to upload an image of your vaccination card to validate your vaccination status.

Community Coach & Judge Roles

We are looking for community coaches for the 2020-21 season. Community coaches are experienced debaters who want to share their expertise with students and collaborate with teacher coaches at our area schools. Applicants who competed in Policy/Cross-Examination, Lincoln Douglas, or Public Forum debate as high schoolers/college students would be highly preferred.
