The Augsburg University Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program was just notified the grant was approved for 2017-2022! This signifies the McNair Scholars, a federal TRIO program, will be funded $232,262 annually for the next five years by the U.S. Department of Education (slight fluctuations are dependent on congressional decisions). The goal of the McNair Scholars Program is to increase graduate degree awards for students from underrepresented segments of society; either first-generation college students with financial need, and/or members of a group underrepresented in graduate education. McNair participants have demonstrated strong academic potential and will prepare for graduate study through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. The McNair Scholars Program was created by the U.S. Congress in honor of Dr. Ronald E. McNair, the astronaut and physicist who was among the first African Americans in the U.S. space program. A new system to manage the digital signs on campus, which is based on WordPress, was launched this summer. It provides several improvements:
• Greater reliability: the previous system was no longer supported
• Quicker turnaround: the new system will use standard templates for all event announcements and general announcements, resulting in quicker posting
• Emergency alerts: over the coming months, we will be working with Public Safety in hopes of integrating the new system with their notification system so that emergency alerts can be displayed on all screens automatically.
Requests for digital screens can still be submitted at inside.augsburg.edu/marketing. To allow ample opportunity for the campus community to encounter the information, please submit digital screens announcing events no less than two weeks before the event takes place. Digital screens are the preferred method for announcing and promoting on-campus events in our buildings. For this reason, generally speaking, Marketing and Communication will not produce posters, flyers, or handouts to promote on-campus events to internal audiences.

Music has always played an important role in campus life at Augsburg. In addition to the Augsburg Choir, our two other ensembles – the Riverside Singers and Cedar Singers offer students the opportunity to explore music written for treble and tenor/bass voices respectively. The Masterworks Chorale is a community/alumni/undergraduate ensemble that focuses on large choral and orchestral works.
We’d like to invite you to be a part of our musical life together at Augsburg. Auditions for all choral ensembles will take place the first week of classes. Auditions for new and transfer students will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 5 and 6 between 3:00 and 5:45 in the Choir Room and M4 (first floor of the Music Building). Call back auditions for the Augsburg Choir will take place on Friday, September 8 with first rehearsals beginning Monday, September 11. The call-back list for Augsburg Choir will be posted on Thursday, September 7.
Sign up sheets for audition times will be posted Friday, September 1 on the bulletin board between the Choir and Band Rooms.

The new online copy request system is ready. Find it in the normal place on the Inside Augsburg Home page>Administrative tasks>Copy Request, or from the Central Services web page. You must be logged in with your Augsburg network login.
Use the site to order copy jobs from the copy center PLUS order general letterhead, general envelopes, and reams of colored or oversize paper you may use in your department.
New prices are in effect, you’ll note some of the color prices are lower, and we changed the pricing scheme – prices are the sum of the cost of the ink (black or color) and the cost of the paper you have chosen, plus any finishing. There continues to be volume based pricing on the ink charges. web.augsburg.edu/centralservices/Copy_Center_Prices_effective_8.21.17.pdf
We are eager for you to give it a try! Although the system is pretty intuitive, below is an instruction guide. Feel free to call the copy center x1054 for assistance (or if you discover a glitch – every new system has one!)
