Students who complete the Cybersecurity Training course and earn a badge in moodle by 3pm on Friday April 22 will be entered into a drawing for a set of airpods or one of three $25 target gift cards. Winners will be notified by email.

To help with phishing awareness we’ve made a cybersecurity training course available to students in moodle (it is on the main course dashboard).

Everyone who has a login to the Augsburg network has a role to play to keep our digital campus secure. Phishers are not always interested in you or your information. They’re often interested in using your login and email account to phish other people at Augsburg who have access to valuable personal information.

Tristan Crowell, LGBTQIA+ Student Services Program Manager joins the Department of Multicultural Life today, Monday, April 4. Augsburg University is accepting applications for Auggie Basics Housing for summer 2022 and the 2022-23 academic year.

DEADLINE: Monday, April 4, 2022 at 5pm ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Auggie Basics Housing is designed to address the needs of students who are experiencing housing instability. The purpose of the program is to provide a bridge for students whose housing is not stable as they seek to identify a permanent solution.

Students accepted into Auggie Basics Housing will live on campus without cost to the student. Regardless of when students enter the program, the housing commitment will cover the full academic year if needed. If the student secures permanent housing elsewhere, they will be released from the program and the spot will be offered to another student.

MEAL PLANS: Students are not required to have a meal plan if they are selected for Auggie Basics Housing, including those placed into buildings that require one.

ELIGIBILITY FOR PROGRAM: To be eligible for Auggie Basics Housing, students must be returning students and not receiving other housing aid from the University. Incoming first-year and transfer students are not eligible to apply.

Students may apply for housing either for the summer term and/or for the academic year. Students must reapply each academic year, and may be part of the program for up to two academic years. Being chosen for Auggie Basics Housing one year does not guarantee participation in future years.

The Marketing and Communication division is seeking to hire one student employee to serve as a digital content assistant for the summer of 2022 and the 2022-23 academic year. This position will be for a minimum of 5 hours/week and a maximum of 8 hours/week.

Ideal candidates will be available to work beginning at 8:30 a.m. Monday-Friday.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

Distributing A-mail on a daily basis by 9 a.m.
Designing digital display screens using the WordPress platform.

The PRISM program is designed to support Augsburg juniors and seniors who wish to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Funded by the National Science Foundation, PRISM Scholars receive scholarships of up to $10,000 per student per year. Scholars also become a part of the STEM community at Augsburg with opportunities for summer research, faculty mentoring, and career development.

Eligibility:
– Enrolled at least half-time in a STEM major (biology, biopsychology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or physics)
– Within 5 semesters of graduating with a STEM degree as of Fall 2022 (graduating by December ‘24)
– Major GPA of 2.75 or higher (scholars will be expected to raise their GPA to 3.0 during program participation)
– U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident
– Demonstrated financial need as determined by financial aid status (Pell or MN State grant eligible or equivalent)

Application deadline: Wednesday, May 18 at 11:59pm
Faculty reference deadline: Friday, May 27 (applicants should get permission from one faculty member to serve as their reference and name them in their application)

Augsburg Day Student Government (ADSG) is the official governing body of the Day Student population at Augsburg University. There are numerous positions within ADSG that any currently registered undergraduate student that meets eligibility requirements can run for. This is a wonderful opportunity for students who want to champion meaningful change on campus and advocate the concerns and needs of their peers and community.

Augsburg Student Activities Council (ASAC) is a robust student organization that seeks to build community on campus through intentional large-scale programming including but not limited to planning and executing Homecoming, Auggie Days events, Movie Nights, Seasonal Events, and much more. Be a part of creating fun and creative ways for all students to connect to our campus community.

The President and Vice President must run together on the same ticket for both ADSG and ASAC. For other ADSG positions students can run for one or multiple. The remaining ASAC board positions are selected by the President and Vice President.

Hi! My name is Bella and I am a second year student here at Augsburg studying graphic design. I am currently trying to find personal care assistants to help me in my day to day life here on campus. This would include getting me ready for the day, helping me get set up for class and assisting me around campus. I am pleased to announce that Augsburg has appointed a new Director of Facilities Management. Jim Orchard, who most recently was Director of Operations at Concordia University in St. Paul, will join Augsburg starting Monday, April 4.

Jim has more than 20 years experience in leading Facilities Management in higher education, including deep experience in both custodial and maintenance operations. He brings a wealth of expertise in daily facilities management, operational planning, financial management, team training and professional development, deferred maintenance, and management of new construction and capital projects.

In the current global climate we need to be extra alert to phishing attacks and scams. The Marketing and Communication division is seeking to hire one student employee to serve as a digital content assistant for the summer of 2022 and the 2022-23 academic year. This position will be for a minimum of 5 hours/week and a maximum of 8 hours/week.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Auggie Basics Housing is designed to address the needs of students who are experiencing housing instability. The purpose of the program is to provide a bridge for students whose housing is not stable as they seek to identify a permanent solution.

Students accepted into Auggie Basics Housing will live on campus without cost to the student. Regardless of when students enter the program, the housing commitment will cover the full academic year if needed. If the student secures permanent housing elsewhere, they will be released from the program and the spot will be offered to another student.

MEAL PLANS:
Students are not required to have a meal plan if they are selected for Auggie Basics Housing, including those placed into buildings that require one.

ELIGIBILITY FOR PROGRAM:
To be eligible for Auggie Basics Housing, students must be returning students and not receiving other housing aid from the University. Incoming first-year and transfer students are not eligible to apply.

Students may apply for housing either for the summer term and/or for the academic year. Students must reapply each academic year, and may be part of the program for up to two academic years. Being chosen for Auggie Basics Housing one year does not guarantee participation in future years.

Congratulations to our Auggie Pride Award winner for the month of March- Karen Mulhausen, staff member in the Fine Arts department. Karen is considered a miracle worker among her coworkers. She works tirelessly behind the scenes (quite literally, in the scene shop!) creating and building sets from scratch. She would be an incredible asset in any professional theater, but then you add the educational element of doing this at Augsburg, training students properly and teaching them new skills — She’s simply a wonder! In the current global climate we need to be extra alert to phishing attacks and scams. To help with phishing awareness we’ve made a cybersecurity training course available to students in moodle (it will be on the main course dashboard). I invite students to go through this short course and take the quiz at the end.

They’re often interested in using your login and email account to phish other people at Augsburg who have access to valuable personal information.

Augsburg will host COVID-19 vaccination events in East Commons on March 30 and April 20. We need volunteers who can greet participants and take note of the names and ID numbers of students who come to get their shots so they can be entered into a drawing.

The Good Acre’s (TGA) CSA farm share will have a drop-site at Augsburg this coming summer and fall! Purchasing a farm share from TGA is an amazing way for Augsburg students, faculty, and staff to support local farmers and access delicious locally-grown produce (+ add-ons like local eggs and cheese!)

The bookstore will be hosting a grad fair in the bookstore on 3/22 from 10:00am-2:00pm from 2022 graduates. You can come into the bookstore and purchase your graduation regalia, talk to the regalia vendor about regalia questions, rings, and diploma frames.

The career center will also be conducting surveys for post graduation plans.

Graduation regalia will be available to be purchased in store starting 3/22 until the day of graduation.

The Budget Working Group (Haaland, Devers, Kaivola, Chamberlin, Aoki and Pike) will continue its efforts through the end of spring semester in addressing cost cutting for FY23. Faculty are encouraged to submit questions to the group as often as they arise. Each week Senate President Andy Aoki includes responses to these questions in the report sent directly to all faculty members. As difficult decisions are still ahead, faculty input and questions are valuable.

Auggie Basics Housing Application

Earlier in the semester, during the Omicron spike, several rooms on campus were reserved for use by students needing to attend classes offered remotely. These rooms were the Augsburg Room, Cedar Room, and Nelson Room in the Christensen Center; Sverdrup 208; and Oren Gateway Center 103. As we have moved out of the heightened protocols surrounding COVID-19, these rooms are no longer reserved for students and will be available for staff and faculty to reserve. If students are looking for a place to study or meet, Lindell Library has study rooms available as well as spaces like the Christensen Center Student Lounge. All student group related reservations for conference/meeting space should be requested through Auggie Life.
