Crews began pouring the bright blue portions of the terrazzo art installation on the floor of the Hagfors Center lobby this week. The update includes a photo of this work in progress as well as the following:
>>Terrace and sidewalk work (including a photo of the terrace work in progress).
>>Transfer from temporary to permanent electrical service.
>>Work on the storm water basin (including a photo of the basin taking shape on the south side of the construction site).

The Augsburg Writing Lab is now open and writing tutors are available through Summer Session II (through Wed, August 16). The Lab is located in Lindell Library, street level, just left of the circulation desk. Summer hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 – 6:30. Online help is also available for students who can not be on campus during the lab hours. Questions? Contact K.Swanson, English Department.

What do future auggies expect from their courses, faculty and campus?
The Augsburg IT Department is sponsoring a future student panel to explore what technology future auggies expect. Come see a moderated panel where three incoming first year students will talk about what they expect from Augsburg’s technology.
Teenagers have grown up in a world where technology is everywhere and how they learn is infused with technology. Many K-12 systems have laptop programs, smartboards, and use tools like moodle. This sets an expectation and shapes how they learn — we need to understand this digital reality so we can help students succeed in the college environment. Come and hear from this panel and engage with them on questions you have about their digital reality.

The 2017 Nobel Peace Prize Forum is fast-approaching! This year the Nobel Peace Prize Forum will be honoring the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet, and their work creating peace during a tumultuous time in Tunisia’s history. World leaders, activists, civil rights leaders, and many others will be gathering at the Forum to promote peacemaking and create a dialogue among both the local Twin Cities community and the greater global community.
Students and staff can attend the Forum for free! The Forum is held at Augsburg from the 13th-16th of September. If you would like to attend the Nobel Peace Prize Forum you can register as a representative or a delegate at the Nobel Peace Prize Forum website: http://nobelpeaceprizeforum.org/
As a student, you can be more involved in the Nobel Peace Prize Forum by signing up to be a host for visiting students! Students from other colleges and universities will be visiting the Twin Cities for the Forum from the 14th-16th of September. If you live on campus and can offer space to sleep, you would be the perfect host!

Please join us for the URGO Summer Research Presentations on July 24th and 25th from 12:30 – 4 p.m. in Kennedy 303 and 305. Students have been conducting research on campus for the past 11 weeks under the mentorship of a faculty member in their field. The program includes students from a wide range of disciplines and highlights diverse research methods and topics. This event is open to the public, and we encourage staff and faculty to come support these student researchers!

One component of the McNair Scholars Program is a 10-week summer research project. Each year students work with a faculty mentor on a specific topic, culminating in a final paper and presentation. Please join us next Wednesday when the students present their research on campus.
